ABOUT US:

FLAX COMICS is a studio whose goal is to create original and self-contained comic books. FLAX COMICS is made by more than 15 writers, pencillers, inkers, colorists, letterers and editors from all over the world.

COMICS:

As no flax fiber is alike, each FLAX COMICS story attempts to challenge its readers with different themes and genres, ranging from sci-fi, horror and war to mystery, action and romance, albeit a little twisted. Here are our current projects:

SURROGATE #1 (of 3)
Written by Hermes Pique
Pencils by Fabio Redivo
Inks by Kurt Windish
Colors by Alex Guimaraes
Cover by Christian Ward
An alien shape-shifter is accidentally saved by a teenager, who thinks he just helped an innocent girl. Unbeknownst to him, the alien's purpose becomes repaying the act. Yet, in its warped mind, this means killing and replacing everyone the teenager loves.

The first victim: the boy's girlfriend...

TICKET #1 (of 4)
Written by Hermes Pique
Pencils by Juan Caruso
Inks by Kurt Windish
Colors by Michael McElveen
Letters by Dave Sealy
Cover by Christian Ward
It's 24 meets Philip K. Dick! The terrorist Bhuada holds a bomb of planetary threat. Unable to find him, word leaders resort to techlepathy experiment Cody: a man able to copy minds. Assuming the identity of Bhuada, Cody provides a location. But Bhuada's mind remains in Cody, and soon he escapes, aiding the real Bhuada to avoid capture.

A madman bent on destroying the world and a mind reader who shares his identity are now both on the loose. As Earth's most important individuals prepare to flee the planet in spaceship headed to Mars, international operatives race to stop a terrorist cell that anticipates their every move.
This is the end of the world. Do you have a ticket out?

THE BULLET #1 (of 2)
Written by Hermes Pique
Pencils by Nicolas Colacitti
Inks by Debra Rohlfs
Colors by Giuseppe Pica
Letters by Marc Busher
A wealthy patriarch and his two sons, Arthur and Gabriel von Neumann, buy an antique pistol during a trip to Persia. The seller warns them: the pistol always follows the will of the owner.

Decades later Arthur is now a father. A war looms close to the family and local authorities want to use their hidden fortune to fund it. Soon a killer arrives at the von Neumann manor, and Arthur's only defense is the pistol he bought long ago. He shoots…

…but the bullet magically stops in mid-air, just inches away from its target. The killer is saved and Arthur is doomed, but the location of the treasure dies with him. Yet, the bullet remains in its place, unmovable, unforgiving, waiting to enact its horrific vengeance at exactly the right moment. No matter how long it takes.
COMING SOON!

MISERY DEPOT
Written by Hermes Pique
Pencils and inks by Juan Romera
Cover by Terry Pavlet
An anomaly causes an elder mother to awake undressed inside a humid capsule, the voice of her daughter echoing in her memory, her intentions forgotten. Was she sharing the completeness of their unity, or hatefully whishing her death?

A seemingly infinite corridor of capsules hosts hundreds of persons, calmly sleeping, miserable underneath. Yet, an old man shares the mother’s awareness. Unlike her, he is certain of the nature of the place: a high-technology concentration camp; the second one for him to escape.
COMING SOON!

EMPATHY
Written by Hermes Pique
Cover by Christian Ward
A solitaire woman, Hannah, has nightmares of a house she visited some months ago, looking for a replacement of her claustrophobic apartment. While asleep she feels horrible stench and unbearable cold. The recurrent dreams are giving her sleep deprivation and obtruding her work. Her health is deteriorating: she’s been vomiting and cannot contain urine and feces during sleep. A colleague suggests she may have sleep paralysis.

Searching for information on sleep paralysis, Hannah finds about the old hag, its paranormal explanation: a decrepit witch that takes pleasure of immobilizing her victims during sleep. Tough skeptical of the old hag, Hannah believes there’s something unnatural in her problem...
COMING SOON!

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going!
If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page.
Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

/Idol07/index.html

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Thank you for your invitation Ian. This is a great idea. While we can't participate, I'll make sure some people who might be interested in participating hear about SPI.

Hey Hermes!

To answer yer question (because apparently we can't add comments to other friend's cpmments on our own page yet) Ka-Whump isn;t just online yet, but sometime next year I plan on unleashing the website/KW forum that should have alot of the same content as the print version. #1 is sold out and just waiting for me to get off my butt and make another print run, but #2 is in progress and should be out sometime around March or April. So if you got any news on flaxcomics...send it my way (but closer to me proposed deadline so it's somewhat current, eh?

Keep Creatin'
