footloose
Please do not befriend me simply to advertise yourself, I am not interested. I befriend people whose artwork or ideas interest me, I would like the same courtesy from you. Footloose is a web comic written By Alice Nuttall with artwork by Emily Brady. they are Gin-Soaked, delusional, supposed intellectuals, from the forgotten countryside of England, currently residing in london and southampton. Footloose is the story of Keti Jones, a half human, quarter werewolf, quarter nymph student of Kung-shoe, the world's most deadly yet stylish Martial Art. A high school romantic comedy, set in the strangest Dojo, you have probably ever seen. Footloose updates two pages every Thursday. And if it doesn't there'd better be a darn good reason why not. Footloose- the webcomic! gingerbreadart@brinkster.net You can also see hosted here, our Rising Stars of Manga entry which didn't make it. If you have time please read, and comment, as we need some feedback to improve our entry next year. Respond on our homepage journal, comment here, or send a private message. PLEASE!With regards to friends requests. I choose my friends carefully. I do not choose peoplw with 900 other friends as they are probably not interested in my friendship. I pick friends whose comics I like. I hope other people would regard me the same. Send me a message or a comment because I would like to be your friend if you would like to really be mine. On a similar note, I'd really like to set up a web ring/ banner swaps with like-minded people, so if you're running a half-decent, regularly updating webcomic that you think isn't getting the attention it deserves, message me, and lets see if we can't help each other out. We can do images now! Yay! (And in case you wondered, here are we!)

In My Beautiful Neighbourhood.
This comic was entered for 2006's Rising stars of Manga, but obviously didn't win. It's got it's flaws, ( spot the two left hands!) but I still like it.

Hi, how are you? Our studio recently put a new site up. pencily.com is a great source of inspiration for illustrators, animators and designers, so I hope you find it as useful as we do!
All the best,

You're welcome! I think your art is pretty spectacular, so I'm glad you added me too! Me and Ally have known each other since primary school, we've got the same birthday, and we're pretty sure someone mashed our brains up together at some point. Ally can draw but can't be bothered, I can write but can't be bothered, so we make a pretty good team! Em. |

Your tokyo pop submission turned out really nice. I did one with a group of friends this year but we don't think it will win anything. I hate the waiting part though. how long di you have to wait to see you yout submission won anything. 3 Replies [ Latest posted on January 24th, 2007 4:50 PM ]

let's see... the deadline was the end of september, and I didn't see the winners till the beginning of January, then again, I was late noticing them so I'm not sure of the actual date they went out. Presumably the viewers choice award nominees find out earlier if people are voting for them, and I guess if you've won they tell you beofre they announce it publicly. But either way I reckon the judging period must be at least two months. I love your artwork so good luck! And also good luck to anyone else whose entered the US comp! Here in the UK we've got till october so me and Alice are still in the script phase of this years entry. |

ok cool so you entered in the uk. well good luck for next year. Honestly one of my teachers critiqued the submission we did and he didn't like it so I think we may end up loosing and i figure maybe next year we can try again. I might do it by myself this time though. |

much as I like teachers, they don't tend to like manga,(and they're never really happy with anything) so wait and see! |

O_o;;; but if i ever do find the entries, i'll send you a link. ^^ i would really love the vote. [grrrrrr I WANT IN!] I may check the tpop forum and see if anything is written. ^^ 1 Reply [ Latest posted on January 19th, 2007 12:18 PM ]

The comic is under a redraw as well as updating new pages at the mo, so there's a large section in the middle that I can no longer stand to look at... I might make it my news years resolution, to try and finish every page i'm not happy with by the end of this year... |

I see your change of approach on the face shading in the two newest page. I think it works much better to your advantage. Gray tone is easier to control and easier on the eyes for your work. :) If you think it's too harsh, (I don't find it harsh) you can adjust it to be lighter. Sometimes, you don't even need it. Hmm, looked at it online and it definately looks better. I think it just looked a bit harsh in photoshop because I wasn't used to it. Thanks for everything! |

Oh totally. Definately reward enough. ^_^ And I did indeed used to go a lot! I'm so lazy these days - must make it there again. How cool- we've no doubt met at some point then! ^_^ |

Haha- that's sweet, but don't feel too jealous. Sweatdrop isn't a job, it's a hobby. A lot of people are surprised to learn that none of us get paid for the work we do in Sweatdrop the comic group. We do it in our spare time because we love it. It's all about the comics lurve! A few of us are professional artists outside of sweatdrop and will try and use Sweatdrop's name and include SD artists where we can to help promote the group - but yep - SD is not a professional, money making thing. ^_^ 1 Reply [ Latest posted on December 17th, 2006 2:41 PM ]

Ah yes, but I'd say being so well known in the UK anime scene was reward enough! Are you a frequenter of the London Anime Club? I have a feeling I may have been introduced to you once by someone there, but I don't really remember. |

._.b I usually mean to say something good about other's work when I first started my review. But... the way you did the tones really strikes me, the space between your basic tone shading on the character's face are too big. You need to either remove it, or use one that has smaller dots, and more lines. Or just simply use gray scale. (which you are pretty good at using.) Other wise it's really hard for me to get into your comic looking at it. Spoken in all honesty, not meant to be harsh, you paid good efford in your work, I can see that.
Tone is hard to figure out. I'm still observing for it's usage myself. |
