15th February, 9.30am - 7pm, Broadway Media Centre, Nottingham, UK

The Animation Academy at Loughborough University and The Broadway, Nottingham are hosting a one day conference celebrating the best of British Computer Animation.

Held in honour of John Grace, pioneering creator of ‘Reboot’, the first fully computer generated television series for children, who sadly recently died, the day will feature lectures, panels and demonstrations of the best of British computer animation.

Director of the Animation Academy, Professor Paul Wells, says ‘ We are delighted to welcome Phil Mitchell from Mainframe in Vancouver, creators of ‘Reboot’ and ‘Beast Wars’; Mike Uden, talking about Gerry Anderson’s ‘Captain Scarlet’; and the best of contemporary independent work in the figures of Marc Craste (JoJo in the Stars), Johnny Hardstaff (The Future of Gaming), Dave Mousley (Titanic, Birth of a Legend) and Andy McNamara (BBC Idents).’

He adds ‘The day will also feature a tribute to our much missed colleague, John Grace, looking at ’64 Zoo Lane’ and ‘Reboot’, with Ken Anderson from Red Kite Animation and leading children’s book illustrator and animator, An Vrombaut, and a look back at pioneering computer animation by the Halas & Batchelor Studio’.

Full details are available from P.Wells@lboro.ac.uk and G.S.Howell@lboro.ac.uk. Tickets cost £25 for Delegates, £15 for students, and £5 for single sessions by Phil Mitchell and Mike Uden.
