actually the last minute fill in chapter didn't suck,
i could have rocked with more time to work,
but i think it came out well considering the time we spent on it.

and the second last minute fill in (lol)
has some of my favorite pages i've ever worked on as an inker.

but i know what you mean about deadlines.
i agree.

not everyone has the dedication required to do this work.

think about the stuff we pulled when we were younger. lol

I have that love/hate thing with deadlines. I know how important they are, but I also know that most people pick a fairly arbitrary timeframe for things and factor in some fudge so "deadline" doesn't mean very much in some real world contexts.

From recent personal experiences, I had a hard time meeting the the Small Press Idol deadline for the final package. It wasn't a question of not working, but of working AROUND a lot of other more urgent real-life things. BUT I know that communication is key, and I kept Ian in the loop and updated him as promised. I also assessed my circumstances, worked with my lovely wife to adjust some schedules, and met my own self-imposed drop-dead deadline before going on vacation.

I get what you're saying, though. It sucks to be the guy who did the responsible thing to keep the project on track to take advantage of the buzz, only to see it lose steam as others dropped their balls. Too bad the writers didn't communicate their needs better and in a more timely fashion. Next time, be pushier with the writers and help lean on the artists not pulling their weight.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta go flip a burger and clean a toilet, but not necessarily in that order.

I like the layout of your pages. I would tell what everyone told me forever. Try to add a little more black to the pages so that there doesn't seem to be empty space. It's amazing what a large black shadow can do to a page. I do like the tree eating girl though. :)
