GayWebcomics provides artists, cartoonists and humorists with an uninhibited playground, of "our" own where the fine traditions of cartoon art can be honored and expanded. GayWebcomics is looking for the very best to represent all genres. We launched "our playground" because the LGBT community around the world deserves a place to express our unique point of view.

Gaywebcomics does publish the stuff that's too 'spicy' for other comic book sites - many of which have restrictions on adult content we hope that all genres will be found at GayWebcomic. GayWebcomics will not be all erotic, but it does have an "Enter Here 18yrs and older" disclaimer because of so many naughty bits. We are hopeful that political satire will be submitted and that jokes will also be submitted here too. For instance, I love Drag Queens—love them. I sit at my PC watching, hoping for that email that submits a Drag Queen entertainment reporter or a mother hen.

GayWebcomics only seeks a non-exclusive right to post your work on our website. This means that the material may also appear elsewhere on the web on your own website, or on a portal, or anywhere else you choose to put it at the same time it appears at GayWebcomics.com.

Payment
GayWebcomics.com is not currently able to pay you directly for your work. This is one reason we only seek non-exclusive rights. However, you will be free to sell advertising on your own pages, and make money that way. We'll even help you. Specifically, there are three advertising “slots” on each GayWebcomics page: one small 468×60 space running along the tops of the pages; one 120×600 space running along the sides of the pages, and another small horizontal banner running along the very bottoms of the pages. The top and the bottom slots will be reserved for GWC house ads. GWC cartoonists will have control of the 120×600 ad slot running along the sides of their pages. If you are participating in an affiliate program, for example, or if you have an account with a third-party ad-hosting service, you can slide your banner code into that part of the page very easily. We also have our own private banner server which you can use, if you wish, to sell ads directly to advertising buyers — and you can keep all the money for yourself. Or, for that matter, you can use the spot to advertise your own wares.

The site is up and we have two artists on board. How about you? Send your submissions to gaywebcomics@gmail.com

That rotate idea is a very interesting idea, however I don’t think that it should be a prerequisite for joining, it should be something more optional or voluntary that way you don’t have to deal with thousands of different logos.
However you should tell us, which are the definitive colors of the webpage layout, in order to develop proposals that fit with the rest of the page design, I’m assuming they are the colors you mention as your favorites.

Anyway I will see what I come up with

Thanks, Drub. What do y'all think of Drub's idea below? I don't even know if it is possible to have the logo change upon refresh. I'll have to think check into it.

What if... and this is just an idea...

Since all the people you want to join have different styles and we are all comic nuts/art people coming from different perspectives, that a prerequisite for joining up is they create a logo that is loaded into a general folder that rotates out every time?

I know that could become a problem if tons of people are visiting the site and you have over 200 variations, but it's just a thought.

In any case, I'll see what I can develop and pass it by you. :)

Direction, hummm. I don't know how to tell you what the direction is. I explained to a friend who asked the same question that the site will be what it becomes. I am just providing the space. I am not in to comics like you and others who will be on the site. I am developing the site because of my interest in erotic art.

So, I will have to defer to others like you for it's look and feel.

My favorite colors are cobalt blue, cherry red and regal purple.
I think there should be an illustration in the logo that represents the GLBT community, but what? I think that the PFLAG is is tried and true however, over used but I might be wrong. The only definate is the size 396X52.

So, whatdaya think?

Robert

Can you give us a direction you are looking for in the way of a logo?

[ Posted by gaywebcomics on Dec 21st, 2006 9:40 AM ]...

We'll launch just as soon as I get a logo from one of you artists. Artist I am not, so send me your ideas. Originally, I had the grand notion that I would be able to launch with a few advertisers. Ha! Well, as someone said, "Build it and they will come." My friends are about to shoot me if I don't hurry along.

[ Posted by Drub on Dec 20th, 2006 11:34 PM ]...

Yes. When do you launch?

[ Posted by ComicBookQueers on Dec 20th, 2006 8:57 PM ]...

Do you have a launch date yet? CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Gaywebcomics.com is a portal for artists. The portal and the artist's pages income generator will be advertisers. There is no budget to pay artists to join the portal. It will have to be restricted to those 18 and over because there will surely be some naughty bits, but right now that is the only restriction on the slate. I am just excited about getting the site up to see what evolves. My aim is to have a broad cross-section of comics, art and humor. I am hopeful that the site will appeal to the whole GLBT community. Artists will even be able to accept advertising at their site on the gaywebcomics.com portal.

Your site sounds AWESOME, so awesome that I can't access it from work due to blocking software. Can't wait to get home and check it out-- actually, I may go home for lunch so I can check it out.
