Hi Everyone,

I'm Dave3 -- Webmaster and Creative Director for Geeks of Doom.

Geeks of Doom is a place where independent comic publishers and artists can been seen and heard.

We're staffed by a cabal of over two-dozen contributors -- self-certified geeks, to the bone. We’ve got the inside skinny on the latest geek-oriented entertainment news, up-to-date movie, video game, comic and music reviews, interviews with industry geeks, contests and giveaways, and articles about everything else that shines under our geeky sun.

We write about what we love! We ARE the comic readers, we are the movie goers, we are the target market. We’re able to write from the perspective of the average unbiased fan, because we ARE those fans.

Our contributors hail from all walks of life. Teachers, artists, doctors, mystery-men, web professionals… sure we’ve all got day jobs, but Geeks of Doom is our passion.

We started Geeks of Doom in earnest at the beginning of April 2007. The site grew out of an idea to create a place where the independent geek could voice his/her opinion, and to create a community around that. After a few attempts, everything suddenly just fell into place.

And just a few months later, we've welcomed well over a MILLION unique visitors! Yeehawww!

Town Called Dobson has been nominated for the 2008 Weblog awards for best webcomic. Please consider voting for the strip. You can vote everyday until Jan 13th, 2009.

I wanted to take some time in this new year to thank you folks for your support of me and my little comic strip Town Called Dobson. We crossed the 500th Strip threshold this past year, got printed in some great independent newspapers, got to show off how I create TCD at Adobe over the summer and the continued presence in the blogosphere is always a blessing. Without your support, readership and emails, TCD would never have made it so long. It is with the deepest heart I thank you all. It is vital that progressive issues are represented in editorial cartooning, especially in these days of dwindling news readership.

Your consistent support and strip devotion has earned Town Called Dobson a 2008 Weblog Award Nomination for Best Webcomic. I am stunned to be nominated and I am sure Karl Rove was secretly working behind the scenes to kill the nomination off, but "Hope" wins again!

I’m going about, inviting anyone and everyone, to participate in the greatest show in Indy Comics: Small Press Idol 2008. Last year, over 100 teams competed for the chance to be published, and dozens of the top projects have been appearing in Mysterious Visions Anthology. 3 of the other top projects have been picked up by 3rd party publishers, and a couple others are also now with the Dimestore Imprint. This year, we’re upping the ante. With a very small entry free, we’re going to have a CASH PRIZE for the winner, as well as a publishing deal.
Sounds interesting? Anyone who is not currently being published by a “name” company, who is not making a living making comics, is eligible. So if you have a webcomic you’d like to rework a bit into a comic…entering will grab you lots of new eyes on your work. Self published issues haven’t been selling great? Kick it up a notch, and see how it stacks up in the spotlight.
The Guidelines for this year’s contest are here:

In response to your latest bulletin:

What is your favorite comic book? - Dawn, Witchblade, Shi, Fathom

Which comic book series would you like to see adapted to film? - Marvel's Civil War would be interesting or possibly JLA: New Frontier

Would your choice of comic book movie work better as a live-action or animated film, or both? Either would have to be animated in someway to pull them off. 3-D animation would be cool.

Which comic book should have NEVER BEEN or NEVER SHOULD BE made into a movie? I would say the David Hasselhoff Nick Fury movie was crap.
