Whole-lotta-Sketch'n: Month 1 complete!

Well, I was a couple days late getting this weeks pages scanned in, but they are finally up. (check out my gallery here.)

My reflections on this month of sketching are a little mixed. I'm proud of my progress but a little disappointed that I couldn't get more done and of the overall poor quality of my sketches.

The initial plan was to do at least 100 sketches over the course of the month. It became clear after the second week that number was just not feasible. There just aren't enough hours in my day to get that many done (with a two year old at home, two jobs and college...things are pretty busy). I fell well short of 100 at about 60 sketches...but I did do my entry to this year's Comic Idol. That was disappointing...but it was a good learning experience for me and I'll just add that to my pile of images.

As far as the quality goes...I'm beginning to realize that I'm really not that good of an artist. I have a long way to go if I think I'm ever going to get a paycheck for any of this stuff. It's really kind of disheartening. Well, I'll just keep plugging through and see what I can do to improve. I think I just need to try and raise the bar for myself. I've been thinking about trying a few things differently...so we'll see what happens.

So I've already began working on Week 1 of Month 2...so look for those Thursday or Friday (if anyone is actually looking for them).
