Bulletin: Have you ever walked down a busy city street and noticed graffiti on the walls? I know that some of that actually looks pretty cool. What do you think the creator’s teachers in school thought about that particular student? Was it that he/she would be a delinquent? Or did they think the student was talented? Was he/she misunderstood or just acting out? Maybe that person just saw things in the world with a different eye. Maybe what to some is a defilement of property would be art to others. Art plays a key role in mental and emotional development. So why is it being taken out of the schools?

There is an organization out there that actually encourages the usage of art in self-expression. GIRAFNetwork, Inc. has a campaign going on to get art back in schools. If the people of the world were able to express themselves constructively, then maybe they wouldn’t want to “defile” property to get their views across. If you look at those people, and look at their past, you just may see something in them that you see in your own family. It’s called imagination. Look at a young child, and tell me that you don’t see something that needs to be expressed. They see the world as something with unlimited potential. They are just seeing the world as they themselves are.

We don’t want to obstruct their imaginations by removing their way to convey their thoughts and feelings. We have done that enough as it is. Just look at teenagers today. They are so worried about what everyone will think instead of what they really want to say. By getting art back into the schools, we give them a safe outlet to let their thoughts emerge. GIRAFNetwork has programs for schools to learn the important things that art brings to everyone’s lives. They have lecture circuits for schools, and even an outreach program for artists to get their views out there through the wonderful means of comic books.

Have you noticed that your doodles are actually pretty good? Do you want to be able to get your artwork published? What about you writers? Do you want to see your stories in writing? Would you like others to see the world the way you do? Visit www.GIRAFNetwork.org to see what we can do to help you.
