| Bulletin: | Recently many things have come down the pipe for me. For quite some time our esteemed executive director has handled the production side of things when it comes to the books. Namely because he had access to all of that to begin with between inking, lettering and just about any imaginable prep work that goes into a constructing one of our books. Now with GIRAF picking up steam like never before and with Jason to busy with all the many corporate task needing completion I’ve recently have taken over the final production aspect as it should have been. There has been a slight learning curve. Last time I put a book together was the good ole days of double stick tape 111/2 x 14in mock-ups and fighting with photocopiers. The learning curve was easily managed and in the past month I have been steadily busy with various projects. New to GIRAF since the first has been the resurrection of the GIRAF Spots monthly newsletter. It is a simple newsletter of public dissemination briefly detailing what GIRAF is working on as well as alerting people of art in their communities. I’ve just recently finished the May issue which was released this past week. Since then I put together Brian Proctor’s Sketchbook so he can show case his artistic talents. That book was fairly cut and dry to piece together and not at the same time. Many of images that were not blue line pages had to be slight sizing issues. Also had to assign proper copyright to many images as several were fan-art of own works and characters. That project was checked off and finished as of last weekend. Now very soon I have to meet with Leslie and work out the next issue of Next…, then come assignments and follow up and constructing of the issue. That should be complete and ready by the end of the month. During that time I need to complete another GIRAF Spots, final production on the next issue of NeoKyoto and get both that and DangerZone before the end of May at the absolute earliest. In fact NeoKyoto is nearly complete barring a couple of small issues and one commonly occurring SNAFU. Add in the mix my new hyperstory that I have begun the ground work on. The hyperstory is essentially a web posted choose-your-own-adventure format story on a serial basis. Once the project is complete it will be wrapped in its entirety and place on a future issue of Next…. A lot of thought, more so than I initially believed is going into this project. Before I write any branches I need to finish the start of the story to present the plot before placing any paths. Then things get interesting. I may want to pow-wow with some other creative minds to brainstorm of misfortunes for our hapless characters. -Keith |
