GlobalComicJam
This is the collected work of all the talented people over at www.globalcomicjam.com. The site has been going strong in the field of comic jamming since December 1st 2003... and now it has more than 200 artist members and about 750+ comicpages. For the full experience, head over there today!
And remember, YOU are welcome to JOIN IN on the jamming!!! http://www.globalcomicjam.com Come on over and register (it's free and easy) and then sign up for your favorite strips in the Schedule section! ((NOTE: The site is getting ready for its BIG NEW look for its fourth anniversary... so only the forums are open right now, but there is a BIG contest where you can help us come up with some of the new jams premiering in FEBRUARY!! Read about the contest in our ComicSpace bulletins, our forums, or read the section below for the submission guidelines for the contest! THERE WILL BE SIX WINNERS!)) ============================== The fun of the site is that each strip is told in what could be referred to as the “campfire tradition”, where a story is started by one storyteller, and then passed on to other storytellers who add their own spin to develop and further evolve the story. Each page is created by a different artist, and thus overall provides a unique and sometimes unexpected reading experience. ============================== Our BIG 2008 CREATE-A-JAM CONTEST is accepting entries NOW!!! Global Comic Jam will be accepting new ideas for jams in the form of the first one or two pages of the strip. The theme and genres of the strips entered into the contest are up to the contestant to decide. There are two categories for entries: (a) Totally original strips (There will be FOUR winners from this category). (b) Spin-offs using characters from other existing GCJ strips (There will be TWO winners from this category). If you have an idea you would like to submit, draw up the first one or two pages, fully inked and lettered. GCJ does NOT accept pencils-only submissions. Submissions can either be in black-and-white or in color. Lettering is not needed if the strip is intended to be “silent”. Entrants should send in stories that would excite other artists into signing up to work on a page for the strip. Send off the submission to globalcomicjam@gmail.com as either a JPG or GIF file, with a width no larger than 650 pixels (or 6.5 inches at 100dpi). The height, however, is up to you. Submissions deadline: January 31st. Entries will start to be posted as soon as possible in February on the newly reborn site http://www.globalcomicjam.com. Voting will start on February 1st for any registered users within the GCJ forum. Registration on the GCJ site is absolutely free. Voting will continue until February 8th, and the final tally of voting will decide the winners in each category. The six winning strips will then begin accepting artist sign-ups in mid-February and begin making GCJ history. ======================= Editorial Team/Moderators: Kim Larsen (EIC and originator, from Denmark) Jost von Harlessem (webmaster, from Germany) Jason Vasquez (assitant editor, from USA) Joshua Robertson (media, from Canada) Keith Jeter (communications, from USA) Scott D.M.
