Chicago-born illustrator Paul Guinan has been working in comics for longer than he'd care to admit. His first freelance gig was inking Tom Sutton on GrimJack. A few years later, Paul and wife-to-be Anina Bennett hatched Heartbreakers. It was the first female action series in comics, and it explored the social fallout of genetic engineering long before cloning made mainstream headlines.

Heartbreakers' latest incarnation is as a series of "superdigest" graphic novels. Paul’s innovative paintography on the recently released Heartbreakers Meet Boilerplate garnered an Eisner Award nomination as well as critical and popular acclaim—even from tough critics such as Harlan Ellison, Alex Ross, and Steve Rude.

Paul co-created Chronos, a monthly time-travel title from DC Comics, and pencilled the entire run of the series. His other published comics work includes Aliens, The Terminator, The Punisher, Justice League, Phantom, and many entries in DC's The Big Book of... series.

Never one to rest on his laurels for long, Paul later created Boilerplate, a 19th-century robot whose historical adventures have become an Internet sensation. The Boilerplate site has been described as “charming” by U.S.News & World Report and “deliciously detailed” by the New York Times.

Paul has also worked in film and television: he was lead background artist on the animated series Stripperella, and he produced and hosted the award-winning cable TV variety show The Friday Club.

In 2002 he joined with fellow comics creators including David Hahn, Steve Lieber, and Matthew Clark to found the now famed Mercury Studios. Paul continues to do freelance work both in and out of comics, and has several projects up his lengthy sleeves. Keep an eye on BigRedHair.com for monthly updates.

Hey guess what! Your website is on my "Weird Site of the day" page-a-day-calendar. Now I've always wondered: do they ask you for permission to list your site? Or are you just suddenly out of bandwidth today and don't know why... ;)

Paul!
Greetings. We are 'unpacked' here in Bozeman, but not 'settled in.' Far from it. That will take at least 2 more weeks. But we are loving it.
Great to see you on ComicSpace. Don't be a stranger.
Norm

I absolutely loved "Chronos" when it was coming out.

And wow, this is the first I'm seeing of "Boilerplate," but it's fantastic! Damn.
