Header: The colour of claustrophobia - new Darik chapter
Bulletin: Darik chapter 4, from the digital comic Gateway to Saphaly, has been completed and uploaded - 12 pages long. You can find some of the pages in the "More Darik Samples" gallery. Let me tell you about it ...

Chapter 4 is all about claustrophobia ...

Darik discovers that his father is dead. The older brother who is about to inherit the farm, is acting strange. Is he involved in the death of the father?

Darik's mum is very religious, and she naturally assumes that her son shares her enthusiasm. Problem is - he doesn't.

Nothing at the farm resembles the happy home it used to be. It becomes very clear to darik that he has to get away from there. Hence the title of the chapter: "Departure".

As a rule of thumb, I use one colour besides the black/white/grey-tones. Because the feeling in this chapter is opressive, a shut-in feeling, I needed a colour that could express that. Brown seemed like a good choice.

Brown like old photographs, like autumn leaves. Brown - the colour that used to be so pervasive in East Germany, the former republic of DDR. This colour conveys that here is something old and well known, and at the same time - claustrophobia.

Hey! I've got to get out of here!
