THE PIRATE TERMINATORS: ADDENDUM WEBCOMIC MY DEVIANTART GALLERY Recent News 5/30/2007 Sorry about not updating The Watermelon Chronicles (Yeah, that's its new name) in a couple days, but I just wasn't feeling up to it. So... yeah. That's my excuse. I'm lazy. Oh well. About Me Name: Leonard Carwile Age: 24 Most Influential Artists: Bill Watterson, Shigeru Miyamoto, Ben Hurst (... No actual comic book artists. Wow.) My Philosophy Topical is evil. If there's one thing I try to avoid, it's blaring through the horn that my characters are jumping on TEH INTARWEBS to enjoy TEH YOUTUBES and play the latest in polybockularize-castoring game console (And don't think that means I'm some anti-gamer - I own a Wii AND an X360.) To me, making a good comic isn't just about how people look at the comics today. It's how they'll look at it 20 years from now, and how they would have looked at it in, say, 1960 - I don't want to change WITH the times, I want to CHANGE the times. My Comics At present, I'm working on two comic book series, loosely tied together by the way of characters, but taking place in two completely different universes. This happened totally by accident - during the Philadelphia comic con of 2006, when I was passing out fliers for what was at the time my only comic, HapoVille; I made one that was kinda a goofy, manga-parody of the comic, and everyone seemed to really like that one. I decided to give a go at a few more manga-esque versions of my characters, and the response was positive. In response, I made a second comic book series, The Pirate Terminators, loosely based off of HapoVille; ultimately, I even caved and made a webcomic series of The Pirate Terminators. HapoVille HapoVille is the original, and a more mature take on the characters of itself and The Pirate Terminators. There are no "bad guys" and "good guys" (Much as it may seem otherwise at initial glance), and when creating pages, I do my best not to insult the reader's intelligence - something that actually seems to have made my comics a bit hard to read, according to a few people as well as a review done by David Baxter of Broken Frontier. I don't mind, though - honestly, I think I'd rather have HapoVille as an "underground" or "cult hit" comic than one that conforms to our absurd culture. The Pirate Terminators The Pirate Terminators and its spinoff webcomic series, because Lord knows I haven't linked the site enough in this bio, present a chance for me to really have fun with comic books. In The Pirate Terminators, NOTHING is sacred, and for all that matter, nothing has to make sense. You'll encounter no hidden morals or politics if you read between the lines for this comic - just blank spaces. It's all about enjoying the big show, baby.
