I also use Amapi 7.5 for 3D modeling and I'll be using Lightwave 3D more as time goes on. It's got a very hot rendering "engine". And many of it's compatibility problems with 3rd party content seem to be resolving themselves. Sorry if that's more than you really wanted to know! :-)
