Head Press Publishing was established in 1995.

BEFORE THERE WAS KYLE XY, THERE WAS JASON 4...BEFORE THERE WAS THE HEROES TV SHOW, THERE WAS TEMPLATE...our first ongoing comic title,('95-'98). TEMPLATE, which was named ONE OF THE TOP 10 INDY COMICS OF 1998, by the now defunct trade publication, Combo Magazine, plays with the possibility of people having advanced mental powers walking among us, and being used against us. From 1997-98, we published the anthology title, NO JUSTICE/NO PIECE, which also functioned as a fundraising project for the CBLDF. It featured stories of injustice that ranged from comedic to the very dramatic. Contributors included, (in no particular order)....Charles Vess, Warren Ellis, Brian Stelfreeze, Robert Luedke, Brian Wood, Brian Rood, Rob Prior, James Owen, Shannon Wheeler, Michael Lagocki, Robin Riggs, Len Strazewski, Billy Patton, Paul Smith, Amanda Conner, Mike Baron, Jeff Marriott, Shon Bury, Janet Hetherington, Tony Furtado and many more! In 2004, we published the first book in the EYE WITNESS graphic novel series, A FICTIONAL TALE OF ABSOLUTE TRUTH. The second book in the series, EYE WITNESS: ACTS OF THE SPIRIT, was named ONE OF THE 42 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT INDY COMICS IN 2006, by Wizard Magazine To see sample pages, visit the gallery: Acts of the Spirit Pages.

It was announced on July 28th, that ACTS OF THE SPIRIT took top honors in the catagory of COMICS at this year's HOLLYWOOD BOOK FESTIVAL http://www.hollywoodbookfestival.com/ and on May 18th, 2007 that the book also has taken a SILVER MEDAL at this year's 11th annual Independent Publisher Book of the Year awards. It is also a finalist for the FOREWORD Magazine Book of the Year Awards 2007, (see 5/5/07 & 2/21/07 bulletins).
