| Header: | This week's RECOMMENDED PODCASTS!!! | ||
| Bulletin: | Podcast(s) of the Day: This was a FANTASTIC week for podcasts! Some I want to strongly recommend are: INDIE SPINNER RACK #101- Fantastic Interview with the great Ted McKeever. These guys, Mr. Phil and Charlito, give phenomenal interviews, and this is up there with their best. The hosts are about the same age I am, and they evidently grew up reading the same books I discovered as a teenager, and wowing to the same creators. I was one of the teenagers picking up Eddy Current when it first came out, and have been a fan of McKeever ever since. This is probably the best INDIE SPINNER RACK show since their Bissette interview. Nice episode that covers everything from Hot female Artists, comics in context, Heroes, Farscape, Star Trek, Citizen Kane, Birth of the Nation, Matrix, other podcasts, writers strikes, unions, Myspace, Jeff Loeb, Matt Wagner's MAGE.... just an amazing breadth to this episode. The knowledge, and love, and perspective these guys bring is really welcome. And it has a WONDERFUL interview with Gigi of FARSCAPE fame at the end of the episode which is Great! At over 2 hours the podcast may be too long to listen to in one sitting for most, my general opinion being it's better keeping podcasts to an hour time frame if you can. But that objection aside, if you can hang for 2+ hours... this is entertaining and impressive as heck! If you've never checked out this podcast, this is probably the jumping on point. Recommended! They are the biggest podcast out there for a reason, and this is an endearing interview with a guy whose body of work often goes under the radar, but if you look at the work he's been involved in...from the 90s to today... it's pretty darn phenomenal. From his I AM LEGEND to his work on M to his current success with 30 DAYS OF NIGHT and about a dozen other projects. He really is a creative driving force akin to Feldstein in the 50s or Corben or Bruce Jones in the 80s. He's a guy who invigorates and challenges and excites and pushes the medium. Good episode.
