| Bulletin: | Comics can be a real pain in the bum at times. Back in 1998,after ten years of research and three years of getting permission from IPC and Egmont UK,I completed the re-introduction story featuring many old UK comic characters from Thunderbolt,Phantom Viking,Steel Claw,Robot Archie and MANY others. I wrote it and drew it –sadly, three artists let me down part way through when they thought they were going to hit the big time. Never heard of them since. 112 pages. The first three parts were printed, with FULL PERMISSION,remember,in the fanzine Valiant They Were. AOL-Time-Warner/DC/Wildstorm bought up IPC making it IPC Media and though they got fortnightly up-dates and advanced copies there was a withdrawl of permission and legal threat from IPC Media as issue 4 was at the printers. Sadly, though I love Shane Oakley and George Freeman’s art,Wildstorm’s own reintroduction of some of the characters in ALBION was awful. The two writers even admitted to knowing little if anything about the characters they used. So,I had this idea:Looking Glass needed redrawing but maybe Wildstorm would be in terested in a follow up series to Albion? Well,DC policy is to accept NO project proposals. My question is:what do you do with a 112 pages that took a long time to draw? At the moment it looks like the project will just gather dust in my archive. A warning to all comic creators I suppose! |
