About Us

Insomnia Publications

In August 2008, Insomnia Publications became a Limited company, and shortly after became one of the top UK independent publishing companies. Building on the success of the initial brand awareness, we have seven publications in development and ready for launch throughout 2009.

The books we have cover a wide variety of subject matter, and we aim for originality and quality rather than concentrating on any specific genre. Our books contain something unusual, challenging, inventive, creative, inspired, literate, and thought provoking, rather than another version of something that is already out there.

Hi, how are you? Our studio recently put a new site up. pencily.com is a great source of inspiration for illustrators, animators and designers, so I hope you find it as useful as we do!

All the best,

'ello!

I did a story with an Edinburgh artist by the name of Robert Robinson...do ye happen to know him?

If not, he's a right nice chap and a bloody good artist.

Alright, on my bike!

Later,

Thommy

Hey Thommy!
I know a few Roberts but not a Robert Robinson. But, by the sounds of things (being a bloody good artist and all), I may want to!
Have you got a web address or email addy I could contact him on?
We're just starting production of volume two of the Layer Zero Anthology and we're looking for people to submit work if you are interested. Give me a shout and I'll send you more details.
Cheers!
Crawford

Re: Your comment/offer

What is the overall quality of the raw material? If the writing level is high, I can usually read about 4-5 pages per hour. According to http://www.payscale.com/mypayscale.aspx?pid=2c635f
cb-33b1-4704-9628-b4e884fb1ae0, that would seem to work out to a rate of roughly $4 CDN per page.

Now, if the original material is poorly organized, and has spelling/grammar/syntax issues, or if I also need to fact-check, I can do this, but it's more time-consuming. We're looking at 2-3 pages per hour or about $7 CDN per hour. (Basing it on the average of $17.36 per hour for 2 years experience.)

My editing experience can probably best be summarized as:

1994-1996: The Real Estate Investor, Downsview, Ontario
Proofread advertising and news copy for real estate publication.

2005-2007: Story Editor: http://idlewilder.proboards54.com/index.cgi

Edited Batman (2005-2006) and Nightwing (2006-2007) stories for fanfiction site.

2006-2007 Freelance edited for several writers at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BLUDHAVEN/

References available on request.

Material can be emailed to me at estherdragonbat@yahoo.ca

Thanks for your consideration!
