Jake Estrada Bio
Jacob J. Estrada was born on a cold day in Philadelphia PA. At an early age Jacob Estrada found himself often drawing pictures as entertainment. His influences started with comic books, but his real inspiration came from his father. Jacob’s father whom was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico would talk for hours to the young boy about the Taino and Spanish heroes. Jacob would sit down beside his father and just write these crazy stories his father told him. His father was a great storyteller, creating and weaving these magic tales. Yet to Jacob this was true art, and as he grew and learned how to draw and he would draw these characters his father would speak about. His father may have been a simple man, but to a child he was a true hero, a real man, something that Jacob wanted to be just like.

At the age of 12 his parents fled Philadelphia in fears of losing their two children, due to extreme racism. Jacob’s older cousin had just been murdered due to being Hispanic, and Jacob’s parents didn’t want there son to fall into the wrong crowd like so many other young people do.
So they moved to a small rural city that at one time was a marvelous industrial town, but it had fallen barren and left behind were the buildings that once produced most of the glass in the north eastern portion of the USA. This city was called Bridgeton, and Jacob loved it. Jacob would fawn at the architecture around him, and he would study the cities history. He enrolled in art classes and he continued to master his skill. Years would pass and with the help of his mother and father he was guided to pursue his career in art at several different places of study, until finally obtaining a degree in Multimedia Design.

Having studied under many artists, Jacob would eventually pursue a graphic art career of his own. After attempts of trying to get work, and when he did, it only left him craving for something more. Always wanting to do something more, and to have complete artistic control of his visions. He decided to step forth and do the unimaginable, start his own business. At 26, Jacob would make the necessary steps to start obtaining his goals. With that new business venture, he dusted off several older characters he created as a child, and set his plans in motion.

So back in 2005 he released his first comic book dubbed BOCAS. This was about a character that had ties back to Puerto Rican lure and superstition. Jacob played with the many stories his father had told him during his childhood and made them a reality. Here he would explore many different elements about Puerto Rican culture, which were there politics. As many people know Puerto Rican politics is a touch and go scenario.

Jacob still to this day is working on his creation Bocas, along with his other series titled ESTRADA MEDIA SERIALS, along with doing original artwork in black and white. Some of his pieces are of Pedro Albizu Campos, and he also does commission work for many people on a daily basis.
