I finally got my own website up. Check it out.

Anyway, I'm James W. Powell. I edit stories: comics, novels, essays...you name it, I edit it. I also write, but with all the editing gigs I'm juggling, writing is usually on the back burner.

I'm currently putting together a collection of Christmas disaster stories told through illustrated essays and sequential comic art. It's called Dear Santa, Let Me Explain...

I just wrapped up assisting in editing duties on Postcards, the upcoming anthology put together by the amazing Jason Rodriguez. I can not wait for this book to hit the streets...it'll take the publishing world by storm. It contains stories by Harvey Pekar, Matt Kindt, Phil Hester, Tom Beland, Stuart Moore, Michael Gaydos, Josh Fialkov, Antony Johnston, Robert Tinnell, Ande Parks, Rick Spears, Rob G, Neil Kleid, A. David Lewis, and Danielle Corsetto, just to name a few. It also contains my first published comic short, illustrated by Drew Gilbert.

My career in comics is just starting, but I've also worked with Robert Tinnell, Todd Livingston, and Neil Vokes on The Wicked West II: Abomination and Other Tales. If you aren't reading the books and webcomics by these guys, you're missing out.

I'm also the editor on Redchapel, an upcoming all-ages series by Caleb Monroe and Noel Tuazon. Perhaps you haven't heard of it yet, but believe me, you will.

Thanks for the invite. I've been trying to make it to one of your meetings for the last 6 months, but Sundays don't seem to work for me. I'll make a greater effort this year becuase I'd like to meet other Denver creators.

It meant a lot to me that you thought my Postcards pitch was cool, even though it didn't make the cut. That was only the second thing I'd ever submitted, so the whole process was quite educational.

I was glad to hear you were hooked up with Caleb on Redchapel. He's definitely a guy who's going places!
