It has been a long trip down this road to becoming the individual that I am. I started penciling comics right after high school and through my stint in college. I started writing shortly thereafter on short stories, screenplays, and finally comics. These hobbies, drawing and writing, made the foundation for my advent into indie film productions. I would have to say that I have come full circle into the baptism by fire of the storytelling industry that surrounds us. If you want to keep up with all the things going on with my life, my art, and my studios, check me out on my Live Journal
After ten years of bouncing around the financial court, through many projects and life altering experiences, I find myself on the Board of Directors of GIRAFNetwork, the Georgia Independent Resource: Art & Film Network out of Atlanta ( www.girafnetwork.org ) where I help manage this 501 (C )3 charitable non-profit organization. We work towards the awareness of art in education. Through our programs, lecturing around the southeast, and online networking, GIRAFNetwork has become a vital expanding group to the communities of the Southeast. If your school, college, or community needs help with re-integrating art back into their everyday lives, please contact us! GIRAFNetwork has one branch under its management umbrella called Native Ink Studio ( www.nativeinkstudio ) which produces and publishes comic books, manga anthologies, and marketing materials as fundraiser elements for the GIRAFNetwork program costs. I write, pencil, ink, and letter on many of the submitted stories as well as my own for publishing in DangerZone Anthology, Neo-Kyoto Manga Anthology,Toy Soldiers, Big Bang!Digest, Land of Zoa, and more. For Danger Zone, I have pencilled and inked the recently completed first story arc of Kachina and am starting to work on Ampersand:Earth's Last Hope with my sister Leslie Bullock. For Neo-Kyoto, I co-write, pencil, ink, and letter Kin of Rin Jin, Phooka, and the manga foodie series Iron Chef J. I also ink and letter Wyld Hares with Olivia Townshend as well as UltraSentai Nanoman with Marques Huff. Always more to come like the full color Photo-comic The Gryphon for DangerZone starts shooting in November 2008. I do webcomics and other projects on my own under my studio HeroCentral(www.herocentral.org )which helps keep me creative on the spur of things. I do an infinite canvas webcomic called El Amigo available through HeroCentral and NativeInkStudio, you can follow this urban hero through his inner city escapades by choosing different components of the images to expand the story. Everyone can read their own story as it unfolds by their choices. We plan on adding FLASH components to this website in 2009 where you will hear the actors and action as you scroll across the art. I am also involved in doing comic fanfiction here as well. I worked on a World of Hogwart's story, Star Trek the Next Generation, and am now starting a Torchwood serial as well. I am also involved as an avid podcaster. I co-host a monthly podcast called BrainFreeze Report. My cohorts and I argue, rant, discuss, and present news, updates, jibber jabber on subjects of art, film, and indie press. (www.herocentral.org) I also help co-manage another art studio called 4DeepStudio(www.freewebs.com/4deepstudio )out of Carrollton, GA. With Germaine Webb , who masterminds a lot of coloring for GIRAFNetwork's projects, I help mange their studio, work conventions, do promotional efforts, and am hired out to letter their books like {b}Trials of the Samurai Clown{/b]by Brian Proctor, Twilight: The Battle for Spiritual Warfare and Chaoes of a Fallen Empire for Germaine Webb. I also co-wrote the first Blitz story arc for Tony Bennett as well as lettered it. 4DeepStudio is a huge contributor to the Big Bang! Digest preview magazine. They are really coming along quick! With GIRAFNetwork, I have helped to organize and host the Zine-a-polooza Con for the last three years out of Gwinnett County and finally in Little Five Points. We are taking a year off due to other obligations, but GIRAF is helping to host ZAP'! Spliced indie film day next year in Tucker at the Movie Tavern on LaVista Road in October. Everyone can start submitting their movie shorts, commercial parodies, and FLASH animations to us now for consideration. I am a regular artist alley participant at such convention like MOMOCON, Atlanta Comic Convention, and Anime Weekend Atlanta. next year I will be adding my attendance to Furry Weekend Atlanta and Southern Fried Comicon in Rome, GA. I am always available for panels at the shows, which I am frequently involved with, for webcomics, self-publishing, How-to create comics, How-To write, Self-promotion, etc. The latest 2008-2009 uber-project that I am involved with is the webcomic collaborative called N2Deep. Our staff and freelancers are already signing up to contribute their styles of artwork as well tell this online series across the internet. Pencilers can reserve segments of the story that want to draw in their style of artwork to expand the story along. You can sign up at the NativeInkStudio.com website after Sept 1st 2008 to get involved. Its a great way to get your work exposed to the art community abroad whether you are an aspiring amateur or a professional already. Get involved. I can't forget that I am wokring with Mini-Komix with Jer Alford and Chuck Portfield on penciling and inking the next Sass Parilla the Singing Gorilla digest comic that will be out at the end of 2008. Character sketches can be seen here on Comic Space of the work so far. Its gonna be a riot! I think thats enough about me but I do want to say that I do production work for comics at a hugely discounted rate as well as write, ink, and consult on projects if people need me. Just email me for more information. jasonb@girafnetwork.com jasonbullock's BulletinsDisplaying 1-4 of 4 bulletins...
