Hello again, Joel. And thanks again for having visited Will Eisner for Education of a Comics Artist. Even after a couple of years I'm still receiving positive feedback about that interview.

I hope to visit Memphis College of Art someday soon. And next time you're in LA be sure to stop by, say hi.

Warmest,
~ mike D

I'm glad to hear that people like the interview. It was my first time interviewing someone, unless you count a really, really awkward attempt at interviewing David Mazzucchelli when I was a student. And, of course, I was pretty danged nervous to be interviewing the mightiest of the mighty, Mr. Eisner.

Memphis College of Art would love to have you. Come on down! We'll feed you catfish.

Well, your interview with the mighty Eisner was mighty fine, sir.

And thanks for having created the Sweetie 'n Me strips, which are among the highlights of the "Project Romantic" anthology.

Mmmm... catfish!

JCC! I throw wide my arms in electronic embrace of my AdHousian brother! Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! It's been so cold and lonely here without you.

Ach! I'm such a fan! Years and years ago, a wise comics shop owner put the Desert Peach in front of me when I was just emerging from the standard pubescent love affair with the X-Men. It opened my eyes to the scope comics storytelling, and has remained one of my high-watermarks for the medium ever since. Please publish one million more comics!

Thank you! I will do my best. Look for "Afterdead" -- a collection of all the latest, mostly non-distributed Peach and Stinz I've been plowing away at for the last year or so. I'm scanning it now. You can actually get most of it in parts at www.lulu.com/desertpeach

Diana,

Lovely work. I'm very excited to see real live Memphis cartoonists popping up on Comicspace. I hope a bunch of us can get together sometime to do what cartoonists do: tell each other outrageous lies, and sing songs of India Ink, and plot against our imagined enemies.

Or, at least, support each other in the making of more and better comics.

Yes, we should definitely do this some time. I really should be more social, anyway.

Mr. Beaver and Steve,

Tonight I gave my special lady your "I Heart/GRRR! You" T-shirt as an early Christmas present. It looks great, she loves it, and everyone is very happy.

Big big thanks!

Oh that's excellent! If she doesn't mind being famous it would be great if you could send me a picture to help promote the shirts on the site!

It's good to be back, Mr. Priddy. I love the mixture of mediums on your icon.

Major props to the Peanuts Treasury. That thing was pretty much grade school for me.

Love the Punch and Judy books. Will be on the lookout for your other books.

Eisner worthies:
Gemma Bovary by Posy Simmonds (or was this out last year?)
We Are On Our Own by Miriam Katin
Do Not Go Where I Cannot Follow by Anders Nilsen

all of which you have probably seen, but did you miss:
Rotting in Dirtville by James Callahan?

Who knew a book about zombies, robots, and giant Martians could be so danged subtle, not to mention beautiful?

The design of the Johnny Crossbones character is utterly inspired. I mean, everything about that strip is inspired, but that one design... that breaks into genius territory. Dang, son.

Where am I supposed to keep all the comics you keep making me buy, what with the goodness and all? The attic is nearly full!

Mike,

It's perfect that you'd be the first person to comment on my page, since I found out about this place from your blog. Thanks!
