SocomSam©® has fought in every single American war since the War of Independence. He was at the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He fought alongside Gen. Washington and Francis Marion and sat in at the Constitutional Convention. Advisor to President Lincoln, served with Alvin York. He hit the beaches of Normandy, and was under siege in Khe Sahn. He jumped into Grenada with the Rangers, and was trusted advisor to President Reagan. He fought the communist Sandinistas of Central America and captured a Hind E with his famous helicopter snare. He performed critical recon into Bagdhad and flew sorties that pushed Saddams army out of Kuwait. He is currently somewhere in the Middle East in a location known only to him.

He has been to every military school. Was Drill Sergeant, Parachute School instructor, Jump Master, SEAL instructor, Scuba instructor, Jungle School instructor, DELTA instructor. He is the inventor of the nuclear hand grenade, Helicopter snare, Tank trap, and the kevlar beret.

SocomSam©® embodies all those who were brave enough to stand muzzle to muzzle, barrel to barrel in open fields, in dense jungles, deep blue skies, or on the open sea to secure the liberty that is Americas'.

SocomSam©® is a crusty old soul. He is intolerant to those who hate America. He is intolerant to those who hate freedom. He is intolerant to those who abuse the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

SocomSam©® was born in 1984 by filmmaker and Cartoonist Jeff Mahon while he was serving with the 1st Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Fort Bragg.

SocomSam©® immediately found an audience among Jeff's fellow soldiers, which lead to SocomSam©® being "discovered" by his Company Commander. Soon, SocomSam©® was being used for all sorts of print media for the 4th Psychological Operations (Psyops) Grp. As fate would have it, SOCOM commander, Maj. General Leroy Suddath took notice of SocomSam©® and he was elevated to celebrity status, becoming the unofficial mascot to 1st SOCOM.
