OH YES! I know the bum! I see him all the time, hahaha! He's working on a new book now. Expect to see him soon.
He even did a pin-up for Bomb Queen last year. |

Thank you. Hopefully this is bad tasting medicine, too. I like my super villains, but I like to get on a soap box, too. No shortage of complaining about society. |

Nah... I'm just doing my job. Heroes are people that make a difference. I'm just making comics, Hahah! |

hmmm it disheartens me to think of your comic skill as not making a difference...being and inspiration can be the biggest "defference" someone needs. |

Hey Jimmy! Thanks for the add. Been a big fan for a long time. Barry and I met you at San Diego quite a few years ago. You did a sketch for me in my geek book (my sketchbook) of one of your characters Cyberzone. Anyway, glad your here. Jen |

Y'know... Calli was always my favorite ink for lettering. Smooth flow and a beautiful deep black... Ah, those were the days...! You art guys can always go to pencil/ink/paper. I really miss lettering the boards. It's not as fun on the computer. Plus, picking it up, dipping it into the ink and then trying to letter with it is SO annoying! XD 2 Replies [ Latest posted on January 5th, 2007 2:38 AM ]

Haha! Well, I can think of other things I'd like to dip my computer in.
Yes, lettering on the boards is an addiction. I can't explain the love of dipping a pen nib into the ink and working letters on the page. It's exciting when perfect curves are made on the letters, "o" and "s". It's even more exciting when crafting the ink tools; like sanding pen nibs down to the best slant. I've taken advice from the masters, like Tom Orzechowski, and some cute woman that was on his arm.... forgot her name, hahahah..
However, I still ink Word Balloons on the page. I hand letter (in pencil) on the page, which gives me an idea how big the word balloon will be, and where & how I draw the art in the panel. I'm VERY concerned with dialog flow and guiding the reader across the page. Of course it's a LOT of fun when I have to conform computer lettering to the word ballon art. Yummy.
But Lois, sadly... I've also given in to the charms of computer lettering, and what I like to call computer EDITING. Fixing bad art, cleaning up mistakes, et. |

Heh... Computers really do have their uses. I would really hate to go back to manual retouch/lettering of Japanese stuff, for instance. It's just one more barrier between me and the page. And it totally is a license to plex over every little detail on the project. For Ever. I did a couple of little illustrations for my friend's sci-fi convention (gnomes--go figure!) and took hours to smooth stuff out, and shift around with this and that. Of course, it was a non paying gig. : P
And yes, it's me, the lovely Lois you remember. (Lovely! thanks!) Tom is on the comicspace somewhere as t_orzechowski. I hope we'll run into each other at WonderCon this year. |

Thanks for the add. I just loved the "What If" you did. Holding my breath for the "Savage Dragon/Bomb Queen" 1 Reply [ Latest posted on December 27th, 2006 8:02 PM ]

And thank you for the kind words.
The What If was very fun, and it was great working with Marvel on some well established characters. I wish I could give each character more space, but in a single issue that's so hard to do.
I'm also looking forward to Savage Dragon - I'm leaving it up to Larsen's vision and I'm jazzed to see what he comes up with.
Thanks again! |

Personally, I'd rather live here where we have to worry about hurricanes, because you can always outrun a hurricane. I don't want anything making the earth move under my feet except my wife. *rim shot* Of course, it'd be easy to know if you're safe because you know the image of you in your Hello Kitty pj's would hit the internet at Ludicrous Speed. I hope besides the shaking, you had a good Christmas. |

Yeah, that would be embarassing. But what I want to know is where did you find Hello Kitty jammies in adult sizes? 3 Replies [ Latest posted on December 27th, 2006 4:52 AM ]

Imported from Japan - where size is never an issue. Haha! Japan is great in how the society *at large* adopts several mascots. Hello Kitty, is their Micky Mouse. But that's homogeneity for you. I order a lot from the land of the rising sun. One day I'll tell you all about the "Cat's Paws" that I bought.
Think of a lucky rabbit's foot charm. Now think of a cat's paw. Yeah, you get the idea. |
|
[ Posted by Lois2037 on Dec 26th, 2006 9:23 PM ]...
I have the orange cat back scratcher--a cat front leg and paw with a lever at the end which causes the paw to make scratching motions...eeerie. |

[ Posted by JimmyKitty on Dec 27th, 2006 4:52 AM ]...
Yup, THAT IS IT. Neko Nyanbou. I purchased all three colors when it came out. Now they have three more colors, I like the calico "Mike" design. I got it through Bandai Hobby imports. I'm a fool for these crazy cat paws! |
