I first came to understand the power of art in the third grade. I was being bothered by a boy, named Chris, who just didn’t like me (If you have seen the TV show “Scrubs” think of the janitor). I taught Chris to draw Snoopy as the World War I Flying Ace on his Sopwith Camel and he left me alone.
I survived third grade and eventually received a BA in Theater from the University of New Hampshire. I moved to NYC, as any actor should, but found I could live without “The Theater”. I found my way into computer graphics in the mid 80’s when modems were slow and floppy drives were 8 inches wide. Years later I returned to New York and attended the Milton Glaser Graphic Design Special Workshop at the School of Visual Arts. Mr. Glaser will undoubtedly say “Who?” I have held many jobs over the years including paperboy, furniture builder, janitor, vacuum cleaner salesman, office painter, magician’s assistant, actor, and artist. I’ve worked in graphic departments in larger corporations, small independent graphics houses, and freelance. And I have seen every deadline imaginable, except maybe yours. My lovely wife and I lived in San Francisco for 10 years and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the dot com bubble of the 90’s. We wisely left California before the bust (dumb luck really) and now reside in Massachusetts with our two children and dog Kali (we rescued her from a beach in Hawaii and she will never let us forget it.) I have been doing my web comic One Small Step since May 1 2006. Take a gander and let me know if you like it.
