UPDATE 2/14/08THE GRINDA state of the union by Jose LoeriMina, ohisashiburi desu ne! Well, that's all the Japanese I can muster for the day. Now, on to the update... Not much to offer in terms of an official update. As the title of this update infers, I've been on the grind. All you creators know what that means. Plotting, writing, organizing, making alliances...that kind of thing. Making it in comics is a long drawn out process when nobody knows who you are and some times you have to keep that grind date and just sweat it out. So...that's what I've been doing. Grinding. That’s not to say me and my partners aren’t having fun. I've teamed up with some of my fellow Comic Space brethren on some promotional pieces; I'm waiting on production to finish on Intrepid issue 3 and am plotting other books soon to be released in a giant sized one-shot book. So there's plenty to do and plenty of fun to be had doing it. However there isn’t too much to report. That being the case I'll try and keep this short... -er then usual. I'll be on the look out for more artists to collaborate with on promotional work. Also the website, which hasn't seen the light of update in a while, will be re-worked in the near future. So if you notice it's down for a while don't worry, we're just upgrading. Thanks a lot for all the support so far and I'll holla back with a more interesting update as soon as events warrant it. Until then...GRIND ON! Jose Loeri OPEN LETTER TO RETAILERSA rant by Jose LoeriDear retailers. This is a humble cry for help from the lowly independent self-publishers in your region and abroad. As we struggle valiantly to get our collective works crafted, printed, picked up for distribution (God willing), and eventually sold in your shops, we have but one request. Please don't put the fruits of our labor in the back of your shop (or worst the basement) on those dimly lit shelves only to collect dust and never to be read by a living soul again…EVER. It's a bit of a hardship on us to say the least. Mind you, we understand very well that you have a large quantity of books to sell from the industry GIANTS and you need to allocate display space for those books. That is perfectly understandable. As a matter of fact, for the most part, we LOVE the industry GIANTS because they keep the industry alive and thus provide us with an audience that may find the need for "alternative" reading. So by all means, SELL THE BIG THREE. However, would it really hurt to push us little guys a little bit harder? That is to say, if you put your independent books on display racks nearest to your entrances or by the check out stand and put the industry GIANT'S books in the back of your shops (or the basement), would that be such a bother? I mean, do you think people WON'T walk a few extra steps to go get zombiefied on their regular reads? Worst case scenario, on their long walk to the back of the shop or down stairs, they might catch of glimpse of (Fill in the blank with and indy title) #1, get hooked on it and then pick it up ALONG WITH whatever it is they were going to pick up anyway. What's the harm? Sure, it might call for a little work re-arranging things, but consider the risk-reward factor, that's all we’re saying. Also, if at all possible could you take a little time and plug the work of your local independent artist? When you're checking out you're regular costumers and you notice that they are buying a book that is similar to the work of a hustling independent in your area, why not say: "Hey, if you like (fill in the blank with a name of a mainstream title), you'll probably LOVE (fill in the blank with the name of a cool indy title from your area)." It wouldn't require THAT much effort and it would mean a LOT to us little guys. Lets be honest the big boys don't NEED you to plug “CIVIL CRISIS” or “INFINITY WAR” # whatever. That's pretty much under control. Not dissin’ those books mind you, I happen to read the industry GIANTS. That's what I BUY! However, I also look on sites like this one and others and I see a lot of artist and companies that produce superior work to the industry GIANTS (SEE INTREPID FROM CRUCIAL CRISIS COMIX and GENERAL JACK COSMO PRESENTS FROM GJC PRODUCTIONS). Those works at times fall like the proverbial tree in the woods when no one around. Silent and un-observed. That's a crying shame. All we're saying is look out for the little guys, especially your home town heroes. Put the word out to your customers. Put the indy racks up in the front of the store and give them a chance to sell. You've got nothing to lose and money to gain. So there's that. Peace to you and yours, Jose Loeri www.crucialcrisiscomix.comjoseloeri@crucialcrisiscomix.com

Oi 22!
Yeah, if not for Comicspace I wouldn't have met many of the people on my friends list AND we wouldn't be able to see each others work. Networking and all that. Hooking up with IK for instance, that wouldn't have happened if not for the Comicspace. This site is GREAT! And thanks for accepting the invite.
Your work is BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks for the add. Not to be too shameless, but I'd like to point you to my current comic Dusk - http://dusk.ambrosiapublishing.com/. I'm honestly looking for good solid feedback on the story. I'm even willing to make trades for reviews and/or exposure. I'd be willing to link swaps or even write a script in trade.
Alot of interesting projects you have going on. I'll have to keep an eye on them. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on June 25th, 2007 7:19 PM ]

And thus, the buzz begins for Hadrian Hilliard and Tantalizing Tales...this from the Aint It Cool News review posted yesterday:
"The first story is some serious gothic kooky fun with Hadrian Hilliard, the Gentleman Barbarian, who politely takes down a sinister society set to subjugate civilization, with all the action a tactful barbarian would need. There's no lesson taught here, only thick adventure. Ridiculous? Yes. Outlandish? Sure. Fun? Definitely."
I've said it before and I'll say it again: TT will be out before the end of the year.
