The thing I fear the most about the Ophan bill is the required registration. Why should I pay a third party company to insure my rights are protected? I've read alot about it, but when I say things -- people turn away. (sheeple?) Just want you to know I'm with you.
Thanks.

exactly right, png, this law affects EVERYONE who is creative, not just professionals--i have many friends who work hard as artists just to pay the bills, it is the right to control your own creations that offers the best opportunity to support yourself and your family--the corps that are fast tracking this bill know that--this is one of those times when we all have to get together and stamp out this legislation--have you signed the online petition? joe

Hey Joe, I just saw your 3 Zodiac-pages and it already looks great. I'm very curious to see the full story.
I checked out Crunchy Comics, and I'll definitely try to get my stuff there. I've had plans for a comic-strip also, so Crunchy sounds ideal to me. Thanks for the tip!

Hi Joe!

Thanks for the nice words :) That was the first ever story I've pencilled. Glad I did alright :D I think I'm picking things up pretty fast, but it always amazes me how much more there always is to learn.

Anyways, thanks again, and your art looks amazing. I'd love to see more :D

Have a nice night!

Hey Joe what’s up! Well let’s see if I can remember something that would probably make you remember who I am… I don’t remember anything specific that may set me apart from other interns. LoL I kind of figured you’ve been around too many interns to remember who I am. What I do know is that Bob Layton, Jim Shooter and Don Perlin would always tell me to leave you alone so that you could get your work done. LoL One thing that I do have to thank you for is getting me into artists like Mike Allred, Jeff Smith and Steve Rude. I was only into artists like Todd McFarlane and Jim Lee (I interned at Valiant during the time where Image started. I never did like Rob Liefeld’s work though). But once you convinced me to try out Madman, I was hooked to great art and great stories. You were the artist that I hung out with the most in the bullpen because you were down to earth. You were always fun to hang with and a joy to watch draw dude. I’m glad you’re still putting up some great work. I love how your style and art have developed. Too bad I missed Bold Blood dude… I would have loved to check that comic out. I’ll see if there’s a way for me to find those issues again as it seems very interesting. Anyway man, don’t feel bad if you don’t remember me, I completely understand. It’s great seeing you here and seeing your work all over again… I’ll definitely keep my eyes out for Zodiax.

Oh one thing I do remember was how you always joked on me because Bob Layton gave me the script to Valiant/Image #0 and told me if I would draw it for practice, he would ink it for me and give it to me as a gift. He also told me to draw a pinup and he would do the same. But I never did it and you would always tell me how great an opportunity that was. Anyway, sorry for writing so much dude… I’m pretty sure you have too much work to do to sit on your computer and read this. Best wishes on your work and keep on rocking!!!

dude i totally remember you now--you should've done that drawing for bob--it WAS a great opportunity! so have you done any drawing yet??? i can understand being intimidated by these guys--even i was shaking in my shoes when barry was around, or when steve ditko came to the office!! btw bold blood #1 is available on my site, astronautink.com, if you buy a copy ill sign it and send you a bunch of goodies--and how about posting some of your drawings, slacker! i dont see any galleries on your space--what is up w that??

hi rembrand--wow--sounds like you actually took the time to READ my stuff, and i appreciate that beyond words, thank you--
read your bio, and i can say that hells yeah comics are expensive, and you dont get a complete story until after 5 or 6 issues--that is completely bogus, because i remember a time when you COULD buy a monthly comic book, and get a complete point made, even in a continued story--but ill save my tirade on the destruction of the comic book periodical for another time--on to your stuff--your subject matter is just the fun kind of reading i'd like to use to expand the comics audience in the usa--please consider posting your stuff on www.crunchycomics.com--right now the site is only accepting comic STRIPS, put will accept comic page format by the end of the month. best--joe

hi michelle--thanks for posting, it looks like youve put a lot of thought behind your characters, backstory, design-wise--have you ever thought about doing a comic story with them? id be interested in seeing it, and would invite you to post any comic strips or longer form sequential art on www.crunchycomics.com--best--joe

thanks for the props, yeah black ink is your friend baby--my friend shon turned me on to your stuff--after reading your bio, i would say dont be so hard on yourself--after all, posting online is a form of publishing,so youve made it! if i may make a request as a fan, i would like to see you construct a complete story, say an 8-pager, and post a new page each week on your site until its finished--get used to meeting those kind of deadlines, i think that would be good for you--best--joe

hey rudy--thanks for visiting and thanks for the praise--which by the way, goes right back atcha--great batman pencils--can i ask you a technical question? is your hatching done w a curve of some kind or is that freehand? im hearing A LOT of the big inkers are using mechanical devices for their clean lines, and that sounds so tedious to me--what do you do?

[ Posted by RudyVasquez on Mar 5th, 2007 4:18 PM ]...

Joe, lol-I am the most UNtechnical person you'll find. It's all free hand except for straight lines. I have the crudest materials and really should learn to use more tools. How bout you?

[ Posted by Joe_StPierre on Mar 6th, 2007 11:43 AM ]...

its cool to be non-tech!--you have good control over your rendering--after pencilling as tightly as you do, the idea of inking those same line, w technical tools like french curves and stuff--i think my head would explode--i really admire inkers who can bring that something extra to the work, but for me, yuck! when i ink my own stuff nowadays, i dont pencil so tightly any more, i just break down shapes, get tight in some problem areas, then start drawing w ink. its the only way i can stay interested--have you ever inked your own stuff? im curious--

shon you are the best--thanks for helping me with my comicspace space. for those of you who dont know who shon is, you should, he is a big shot writer whose clients include Marvel, Image and Acclaim. we collaborated on one of my most favorite projects, a 4 issue mini called N.I.O. which saw mimimal exposure thanks to the genius promo department at Acclaim Comics. And by the way, you should show off more NOX pages when you get a chance--either here or on crunchycomics(or both)

[ Posted by Shon_C_Bury on Mar 5th, 2007 1:32 PM ]...

Thanks for the shout-out, bro!

I plan on loading a bunch of Nox pages over the next few days. I'll send out a bulletin when I do!

And I just got the okay from Atomic Pop Art to load some stuff to Crunchycomics.com as well. So stay tuned!

Best,

scb
