Time for a bit of a change up over here at my ComicSpace page! I'll now be pimpin' my new Creator-Owned comic (tentatively) titled: Chronicles of the 13th Hour.

Some of you may have noticed the new gallery over there on the right. I'm trying to update it with prelim illustrations and character designs. Hope you guys check it out from time to time.

I'm just getting started with it, so I have no info as to who will be publishing it and when the first issue will be out. But, the pages are starting to flow! Stay tuned!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Howdy folkes! My name is John Stinsman and I've been working in the comics and art field since 1994.

My first project was Vampirella for Harris comics. Probably some of the worst stuff ever printed in the history of comics, but it was a start.

Then I moved onto several projects at Image Comics/Extreme Studios including Bloodstrike and Team Youngblood.

I guess my most known work would be Avengelyne. I was the penciller on that book for several years.

I then created my own comic series called Scarlet Crush which only saw two issues published. Bummer...

From there I went on to do a year+ run on Lady Pendragon for Image Comics.

In 2002 I entered into the animation field working as a storyboard artist, character designer and animator.

I recently finished illustrating a 4-issue mini-series titled Stormbringers which is currently hitting stands now.

Currently I'm hard at work on a new creator-owned series in which I will be handling the writing, art and color (and probably the lettering as well). It is a series of comics in three volumes with the whole of the series titled: Chronicles of the 13th Hour. You can grab a sneek-peek in my galleries!

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to drop me a line or friend request!

You can also find me and more of my work at MySpace.

If you have the time, please check out the work of a very brilliant artist-- Drew Posada.

Scarlet Crush #1

A series that I wrote, penciled and created back in 1997, Scarlet Crush was the highlight of my career. Now, thanks to the sweetness of ComicSpace, I can "reprint" it here and share it with everyone.

Wonderful-looking stuff - thanks for taking us through your coloring process, too! I remember buying lots of Avengylene too in the mid-nineties because of you Extreme Studios guys' wickedly fun style. Those were the days! ^_^

Thank you once again. So how's everything going with you? I may have asked but are you planning to attend WW Chicago?

Nah... No plans for WW Chicago this year. I've only gone on year, long ago, to promote Lady Pendragon-- and it was a great crowd up there! Hopefully I'll make it there again soon enough, though.

John,

I just read the words you wrote about Drew. Im so sad. Thats the first I heard about his passing. Damnit, he was a year younger than me. The world of art is missing another one of its brilliant minds.

I admired his work on DarkChylde and was thrilled to meet him a few years back at the San Diego Con. Im sure I told you this story, but I went to a party thrown by Danzig at the Ramada I think. I was so excited that I showed up way too early...like 9:00....and there was only me and two other dudes in the suite. Simon Bisley, me, and Drew. I was such a fanboy, I had brought some of my pages with me and showed Drew and Simon. They were so nice about my crappy pages. I remember being impressed by Drew's sense of style, the cowboy hat and his whole persona was impressive. He was larger than life, even in the presence of Simon. Both amazed me.

I am so saddened to hear about his passing. Just another reminder that each day is a gift. Draw and paint and show the world what you have to share. We are here only a short while and Drew really did himself proud with his time.

May we all do the same.

God Speed, Drew. Thanks for being his friend, John. And mine too.~~~Patrick

Hey John, thanks for the add and the kind words. I picked up many an Avengelyne book because of your slick work and I always wanted to do some Scarlet Crush fanart but before I knew it the book was gone. Any thoughts on bringing the series back in the future?

There are other ideas that I'd like to bring to light right now, but a revisit to Scarlet Crush again some day would be great!

And thanks for the compliments about my older work. While some of that older Avengelyne stuff makes me cringe these days (I'm sure most artist feel that way about their first work), I couldn't be happier that other people really enjoyed it! Thanks!

I just had a chance to peep the STORMBRINGERS website and all I have to say is, WOW! Is that your work on those sequentials there? You've got this great Gulacy/Jae Lee vibe going on there something fierce. Love your use of shadows and texture and your backgrounds and buildings are amazing. Do you use alot of reference? I'm asking because everything looks so sharp. I was going to pick this book up regardless but now even more so.

I totally understand about how looking back at your older work may make you cringe but it's also a good marker in showing how far you've come. In your case, man you are just rockin' those sequentials. Aces!

Shame about the demise of "Scarlet Crush". Looks like it was shaping up to be something really good. Oh well - better luck with "Storm Bringers"!
