I may currently live in Thailand and come originally from England but I have a home in Zurrieq, Malta. I was spending a lot of time there a couple years ago as I used to work for six weeks and then have two weeks off. Now unfortunately I only get home every year (around May). I've left a lot of very good friends there in Malta and hopefully next time I'm there we could meet up for a drink. I didn't know there were any comic fans in Malta :)

And yes, there definitely are comic book fans in Malta, even more nowadays that we even have a couple of proper comic book shops. I'm actually part of a group that's trying to create comics-related events, last March we organised the first convention-style event on the island, and we're thinking of publishing a maltese comic anthology as well as more events. The Plaza itself is currently undergoing extensive rebuilding (scaffold everywhere) and that's badly affecting the number of people using it and the comic shop. Even at Christmas, the place was practically deserted. There's a bit of a comics contingent in this neck of the woods. Other than the people you mention, I know that James Redington (Portent Comics) is an Essex boy, too.
