I'm Managing Editor of the new comics-to-mobile project ROK Comics, which offers professional creators a revenue share of every strip downloaded to mobile/cell phone.

The site is still in beta - we're aiming to do an initial launch in May - and at the moment we are still fine tuning the actual delivery of strips. However, you can still create strips using the Comic Creator tools on the site (Flash based), play with the free comic strip creator and embed strips you've created on web sites.

Naturally, I think this is a pretty cool project. Several creators have been testing out the service and giving us great feedback.

My work at ROK Media also involves the sourcing of new content across a range of media, along with updating the Monkey News Network - the news read by monkeys (samples on YouTube.

OTHER PROJECTS

In terms of my own comic work I continue to write The Really Heavy Greatcoat, which appears in Comics International magazine and my British comics news web site www.downthetubes.net.

I'm also writing an as yet unpublished humour strip satirising the British civil service which is one of those rare jobs where you get paid to write something but it has not yet been seen in the public domain! Hopefully this year...

MY BACKGROUND

I have been an editor at Marvel Comics UK and Titan Magazines, where I was Managing Editor for five years, and have worked in publishing for over 20 years, with strips published by Marvel, Egmont, Lucky Bag, CJL (Italy) and others.

My work ranges from strips from humour strips for licensed titles such as The Real Ghostbusters and Thundercats to adventure material including The Science Service, drawn by Rian Hughes - soon to be re-published as part of a collection from Knockabout which will also include Grant Morrison's Dare - and strips for Judge Dredd: The Megazine and more.

In addition to my British comics news site downthetubes, which also includes a guide to writing comics based on my past experience as a Marvel UK editor, I also have a blog at www.downthetubescomics.blogspot.com, where I post various random weirdness.

Hi, how are you? Our studio recently put a new site up. www.pencily.com is a great source of inspiration for illustrators, animators and designers, so I hope you find it as useful as we do!

All the best,

John I read the comments you drop on The Unwanted and you are right about the bunch of headshots the problem is that my main concern was not my work and my art on those pages my concern was the Script itself that is so delicious that I thought on giving respect to the writer in fact got to my blog in some hours and you will see some action packed pages from the same project...thanks John I am so happy to hear from friends!!

Thanks for the add, John. I'm afraid my comics are all on the long side (certainly too long to be called "strips"!) but I hope you're still enjoying "Shades" anyway"! Thanks again - DAJB.

My quest for comic samples continues - thanks to everyone who has asked to be added as a friend, I'll be trawling through their web links in due course
