COLUMBUS, OH, September 6, 2007 – ComicScout.com was launched this week, helping comic book fans keep track of their favorite writers and artists, notifying them when their new comics are shipping, and providing a forum for discussion.

Today's comic book fans are following creators more than characters or story lines. ComicScout provides registered users with free weekly listings of books published by the four major publishers – Marvel, DC, Image, and Dark Horse. Every week, comic fans can see which of their favorite creator’s comic books are shipping. The site lists more than 1,000 comic creators to choose from.

"Previously, comic fans had to read a dozen different comic news, publisher and creator web sites just to know what their favorite creators were writing or drawing. ComicScout keeps track of your favorite creators so you don't have to," says site creator Jon Plante of Columbus, OH.

ComicScout represents comic book readers' entry into Web 2.0 - a second generation of web-based communities and social-networking sites which aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users. At ComicScout, fans can pick their favorite creators, get their pull list (comics they wish to buy), rate comics and discuss them.

Plante, an artist and web developer, has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Columbus College of Art and Design. In 2002, Plante was the artist on Perils on Planet X, a webcomic which launched with the ModernTales satellite web site AdventureStrips.com.

Plante is also the creator of Astromance.com, a dating web site launched in 2007 that uses a unique mixture of astrology and numerology to determine user compatibility.
