Um... isn't it rude to point? ;-)
Otherwise, great job on getting the site back up! By the way -- whatever happened to those missing messages (between March 25th and April 8)?

I knew a guy from Idaho a long time ago. We called him "Idaho". Maybe you know him.

[ Posted by jameslong on May 17th, 2007 10:19 AM ]...

Hmm... a guy from Idaho? Well, that narrows it down to about 4 people, myself included. Are you sure it was a guy? I did know this dame that called herself "Ida Ho." But lets not go there.

Thanks, Man. And who you callin' young?! I'm so old I grew up without the Internet. My daughter has a hard time believing that one.

[ Posted by dunz on May 17th, 2007 12:07 AM ]...

I remember when the only channels that we had on TV were 2, 4, 7, 20, 50 & 56, no HBO or Cinemax, VCRs didn't exist, cars still had 8 track players in them, pop came in glass bottles, milk was delivered to your house and lasers were science fiction. Entertainment, when I was a kid, wasn't found on TV or in an ipod, it was found OUTSIDE. I tell my daughter to go outside and play and she looks at me like, "Are you f@#%in crazy?" How cruel father time can be. She'll probably never get to play flashlight tag.

Hahaha. Was wondering when you were gonna get that. I threw a chicken at your myspace account. It's a long story but everyone gets one occasionally - what you do with it is up to you!

I have done my best to ignore the chicken in hopes that it will go away, but it's still there. My father grew up on a chicken farm, so my next course of action is to ask his advise.

hey Josh...

i found your website browsing for art, and since then i have a dependancy problem, i wanted to open a myspace of my own to expose my art on a global scale, but i just hate myspace, its always so...pizza! its way too busy, pages go on for ever, and theres way too much stuff in them, ComicSpace is the total opposite! its great, comfortable, clear, simple, easy... i'm just so happy i found it, i'm now spreading my infection to other artists, and together, we shall rule the galaxy!

so thanks for putting your time and energy so that we can all enjoy it. Long live comicspace!!!

Hey Josh,I came up with a couple of suggestions, 1st: Alot of other sites have art contests giving the artists a chance to show what they got! You've got alot of awesome artists here at comicspace, So I thought it would be cool if you could run a few art contests! Mabey the winner gets featured on the home page, or somethin' like that. 2nd, It would be nice if you added a feature that in the private messages, that more than 1 member could recieve it. I know you can send a mass bulletin, But I'm speaking of just like a select few you wanted to send to! Something to think about.
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for the suggestions. I do plan to add that feature to Private Messaging sooner or later. Also, there's a pretty amazing contest in the works right now. More than that, I cannot say.

Josh,

$5/Month is a steal of a deal to sell original art on ComicSpace. That's less than the cost of a Big Mac Meal-- right? Jeez.

Anyway, thanks for all you're doing for this community. Whenever I get around to selling my "babies" (original art) ComicSpace will be their main hangout.

Max

Thanks, Max. I plan to add more "Primo" features, like the ability to sell comics for self-publishers. I need to hire a few programmers. Can't... Keep... Up.

Hi.

RE: Sell Your Artwork on ComicSpace
$5 a month might be too much for a lot of us, especially if we aren't moving tons of art, I humbly suggest an alternate plan; you take a percentage of all sales. even 5% could end up netting you more in the long run.

1 Reply [ Latest posted on May 16th, 2007 9:13 AM ]

[ Posted by Josh on May 16th, 2007 9:13 AM ]...

It's something I considered, but 5% would not even pay the Paypal processing fees after the money goes to my account, then I send it to the artist's account.

[ Posted by fernandachiella on May 8th, 2007 1:41 AM ]...

hey Josh, got a few suggestions for ya..it's a little annoying that you can't leave comments on someone else's page if youre not befriended yet... i dont know if that's the general opinion, but well, at least let my complain here for the record, heh.
I also think that even if 5 bucks a month for selling art may be cheap to some it doesnt work too well if the majority of people here can't even sell enough per month to make it worth. (my case) A 5 or 10 percent comission would work much better...wouldn't it?
I may be complaining but i also want to thank you again for putting up comicspace. I'm getting published by shadowline in august and it was through the site that this first big break showed up. :)

Your right about the 5 bucks, Thats why I haven't signed up! A commission would be a more fair choice!

Steve

[ Posted by Josh on May 16th, 2007 9:06 AM ]...

Congrats on the publishing deal. I love hearing stuff like that. I plan to add an option for users who want to allow anyone to comment on their space to do so. About commissions on art sales... This was something I considered, but the main problem is that to take a commission, I would need to hold everyone's money and then pay out at set intervals. This would require paying two processing fees (one when the page sells, and one when I pay the seller), which would not make it viable for me unless I'm getting an absurdly high commission, like 25%. The $5/month route was all around easier and cheaper for everyone.

[ Posted by danielle on May 2nd, 2007 9:39 AM ]...

I have to say, my one gripe about the selling of artwork here is that some of us work in entirely digital formats. Is there a reason why you're not allowing it, beyond the issue of prints?

A signed and numbered run of one would, imo, work as an adequate substitute for an original artwork.

Prints is something that will happen down the road, as well as the ability of self-publishers to sell their comics.
