The Annals of Hearthstone will appeal to those who enjoy C. S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia. There are two convergent storylines: The Range Patrol series, starring a boomerang-wielding police femme, and the Shrike Team, featuring a heroic but reclusive athlete who gains incredible powers of super-strength. Other characters include an immortal prophet, a married coule with oppositional powers of fire and ice, a little green tech-gadget master, and a huge fellow that looks like Elmo on steroids.

I try to give both the characters and the stories a lot of depth. The Annals reward readers who pay close attention (smile).
