Sigh... I hate doing these about me things. Really, I do. If you want to know about me, go to my website and look at my work. Read my posts on my LiveJournal and in my forums. Check out my personal MySpace or my music MySpace. Listen to my music on my personal music page or on my Virb page. Talk to me, directly. It's kind of dumb to rely on a box like this, where I am asked to talk about myself, because who's to say I'm not exaggerating my greatness or my lameness? ;P Better still, talk to other people who know me well and get their opinions of me, then meet me, yourself, and decide if they are right or wrong in their assessments of my character. All I will say for myself is that I am painfully honest, often blunt, sometimes over-emotional, and unwilling to take lies or other shit from people any more. Once you reach 40, it becomes difficult to tolerate bullshit. I find myself less and less able to do so, every day. Want to be my friend? Don't try to mindf*ck me or throw teenage bullshit at me, and we'll get along just fine. (^-^) I've done a few webcomics, over the years, and have been at it (more or less) since 1998 or so. I created Wings of Cranes and Eagles, Tadaima!, ShadowFall and my latest, semi-autobiographical music comic, Angels of the Sword. I'm in the process of writing and recording original music for Angels (I play guitar, bass, keyboard, and I sing), and I am very sporadic in updates for the comic, but when I do update, it's in full scenes, rather than single pages. As all my other comics have been, Angels is in full-page comic book format, but unlike the others, it is inked, rather than pencil-shaded. What I lose in textural detail is replaced with emotional contrast, and I'm enjoying the change. Come by my site and check out my comics, if you'd like. I'm always excited to make new friends! Oh, and here's a mini sample page of Angels of the Sword. Just click on it to go to the main page of the comic. And just for the heck of it, here's a sample of some of my pencil art. Click on it to see the large version:

Thanks! I was afraid of doing heavy shadows in ink, for a long time. I got over it by just slopping on more black whenever I started to feel squeamish about it. Somehow, it seems to work out okay! (~-^) |

Hey! Thanks very much for the compliment. I'm glad you enjoyed Angels! I'm hoping to get another scene completed before too long. I've gone a long time without updating it, due to the constant of chaos in my life. But it's not been abandoned. And thanks to you for the request! I'm always happy to meet new people and make new friends. (^-^) |

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going! If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page. Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!
http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/SmallPressIdol /Idol07/index.html
Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Right now, I'm not seriously working on anything. But I'm slowly gearing up to do at least one mp3 of an original song to go along with my music comic. I've done over an album's worth of lyrics for it, already. I've got another scene of that almost done, but I've been finding it hard to squeeze enough drawing time into the day to really do much quality work. Maybe after the craziness of the season is over, I'll have more luck at it! I'm not in a big rush, anyway. I'd rather do it right than do it fast. (^-^) |

Hi Kaichi! Long time no talk. For your information, my WATCH comic is being renamed to THE ESCAPE, and will be moved to TheEscape.ComicGenesis.com in a month or so. I am going back and redoing every page of WATCH, reworking details and changing bits and pieces to accomodate a more serious storyline. I am also reformatting the comic so that it can be printed into half sheets of paper to make a book. I'm glad you were able to find me on this website! Are you currently working on anything else at Kyokipress.com? 1 Reply [ Latest posted on December 18th, 2006 7:56 PM ]

Ah, cool. Good luck with the new site and all! I check the member list from time to time, to see if there are any names I know. ;P At the moment, my comics are kind of on hold, again. But the new music-based one, Angels of the Sword, is turning into a fun one to do. |

Hi Kaichi! I hope everything is well with you too. I hate that I've lost touch with so many people. I certainly hope that this will at least help rebuild the "community" of webcomics a little! 1 Reply [ Latest posted on December 18th, 2006 7:00 PM ]

I think this place has a better chance of succeeding in "community-building" activities than eCartoonists had. For one thing, it's impossible for a group to gang up on somebody here and force them out. Only Josh could do that, and Josh is a nice guy who doesn't indulge in teenage nonsense like that. So YAY! for ComicSpace!! |

Good to meet you, too, dude. I was just reading thru the Angels of the Sword, and im digging it a bunch so far. So far because i didn't read as much as i will at some point cuz im working on my own first several pages as i type this. Let me just say before i finish that your page layouts and pacing are really good, you really have a handle on how to tell a story in this medium, and so often that can be the hardest part of the whole thing.

Waiting is hard, I know - but this is your eternal salvation we're talking about. Think of it as yet another random, undecipherable test from your lord and mine, Big G. Johnson. The only way to pass it is to give us money this January.
Look, I don't make the rules, just tellin' you what he said. Best not to question it.
Thanks for the kind words, be seein' ya soon! |
