Well this is interesting, isn't it? Since I'm not a big fan of bland blank space, I'm going to inflate my ego a little more (which isn't that big really, so I guess i could use it) and state my history with COMIC BOOKS (it'll probably be more interesting to read than watching Batman & Robin anyway...)

The adventure begins (hee hee) at the tender age of 3 years young. Now keep in mind, this was the early-mid 90's. It would've been REALLY hard for a toddler NOT to have been influenced by the presence of superheroes in pop culture. I was 3 in 1995, the hype for "Batman Forever" was really going strong (believe it or not) and the plethora of comic book based cartoons (including but not limited to "Batman: TAS (duhh), Spider-Man: TAS, X-Men, WildC.A.T.s, that one with all the Malibu characters and the Savage Dragon). The really big ones for me were the first 3. This, along with my brother's love for comic related things, fueled my "passion" of comics for many years to come.

Using the Cosmic Treadmill into 2002, "Spider-Man" happened. "Spider-Man" changed my whole freakin life. I was still into comic books in the preceding years (the Batman kid was what defined me, though I seemed to be known for my Pokemon and Digimon things too) "Spider-Man" got me into actually BUYING comics again. The hype for "Batman 5" helped too. I've wanted Christian Bale to play Bats since the 4th grade. I nearly died with excitement for the "Batman vs. Superman" movie (little would I know the Batman movie I was waiting for the whole time would come out later) My first comic around this time was Detective Comics #765 written by Greg Rucka (you HAVE to know his name by now) and drawn by Rick Burchett (probably more known for his work on "The Batman Adventures")

Now, as a friendly neighborhood high school student, I don't hide my love for comics, doesn't mean I hang out with all my friends at the local comic shop every weekend (I try). And being the cash-strapped person I am, the ONLY regular title I keep up with is Paul Dini's brilliant run on Detective Comics. In the future I plan to become a screenwriter/director or a comic writer. In the near-future, I plan to film a "Bruce Wayne" fan film as sort of a "Smallville" for him (the script is in progress, it's a lot better than it sounds)

Onto what I wanted to do in the first place:

DA LIST (in no particular order)!!!!!

- Batman: Year One by (the Goddamn) Miller and Mazzuchelli

- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Miller and Varley

- Chuck Dixon and Tom Grummett's run on Robin #1-5, 10, 15-16

- Kingdom Come by Waid and Ross

- Batman: The Long Halloween/Dark Victory by Loeb and Sale

- Batman: Hush by Loeb and Lee

- Superboy/Robin: World's Finest Three by Dixon/Kesel and Grummett

- Kevin Smith and Joe Quesada's Daredevil run

- Bendis and Maleev's run on Daredevil

- Ultimate Spider-Man #1-13 by Bendis and Bagley

- Spider-Man: Blue by Loeb and Sale

- Superman: Secret Identity by Busiek and Immonen

- Superman For All Seasons by Loeb and Sale (typing their names are getting old)

- Batman: Ego by Cooke

- Batman and the Monster Men by Wagner

- Young Avengers: Sidekicks by Heinberg and Cheng

- Teen Titans: The Future Is Now by (mostly) Johns and McKone

- Starman: Sins of the Father by Robinson and Harris

- New Avengers: Breakout! (guilty pleasure) by Bendis and Finch

- Planetary: All Over the World and Other Stories by Ellis and Cassaday

- Astonishing X-Men: Gifted by Whedon and Cassaday

Clearly I live my comic life by trades, I can't really afford nor have the time to keep up with a regular title (though I would appreciate it if somebody would fill me in on Brubaker's Daredevil and Immortal Iron Fist along with Moon Knight)

NEED TO GET (besides the aforementioned titles):

A lot of things but mostly all of Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle's Detective Comics issues, the recent Kate Spencer Manhunter series and ABSOLUTE NEW FRONTIER

MOVIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

(again in no particular order)

- Batman Begins (duhh)

- Superman: The Movie

- Superman II

- Top Gun

- The Matrix

- The Crow

- Blade

- Spider-Man 1 & 2

- X-Men and X2 (NOT THE LAST STAND)

- Equilibrium

- American Psycho

- Face/Off

- The Incredibles

- Mission: Impossible III

- Crank

- ALL Kevin Smith movies (except for Jersey Girl, not because I don't like it, but because I haven't seen it)

- Office Space

- The Killer

- Casino Royale

many MANY more to come (eagerly awaiting Ghost Rider)

TV! (hehe it's not over yet)

Religiously, only three shows hold that spot for me:

- Heroes

If you're not watching this yet, take the oppertunity of it's hiatus to catch up. BEST SHOW ON TV. The amount of characters may be daunting, but it's serial storytelling is absolutely engrossing. It's concept is rather similar to X-Men and HEY our buddy Jeph Loeb works on it! WATCH IT! I DEMAND YOU!

- Smallville

I love this show. I'm the only person I know who does = [ and, despite the MANY liberties they're taking with Superman mythology, I really enjoy this season. The inclusion of Green Arrow helped a little (despite taking the spotlight away from the future Man in Tights). I firmly hold onto my belief that season 2 is and always will be the best year of Smallville.

- The O.C.

Well, I've watched it since the beginning, and I can't really stop now, IT'S GETTING BETTER! Right before it ends...

Hey Kal, it great to see a fellow Batfan here! Thanks for the add!
By the way, I don't watch a whole hell of a lot of TV either, but I recommend Prison Break if you haven't checked it out already. It's easily one of the best on prime time.

Rock on!
Justin
