Kep! (as he is known to both friends and foes alike) is a Writer, Letterer, Sophist and Brewer of Fine Coffees. NEED A WRITER?He has written for Image Comics, Image's Shadowline imprint (and was honored to be the inaugural writer of the latest ShadowHawk series!), numerous smaller publishers (including the critically lauded GENIE from FC9 and the star-maker of the comic-world DIGITAL WEBBING PRESENTS) and has been the verbose force behind several web comics (including the universally loved TED NOODLEMAN, BICYCLE DELIVERY BOY collected and published by ALIAS). NEED A LETTERER?As a letterer and logo designer he has worked for anyone and everyone who needed him, unashamed to cash paychecks. Currently calling Dark Horse his primary home, he is working on several titles including ARCHENEMIES, OCTOPUS GIRL, and TRANSLUCENT. NEED A LOGO?Currently, Kep! is developing two series with separate publishers to debut in 2007 as well as a new webcomic to debut as soon as the artist has 10 episodes in the can (hint, bloody hint if you are reading this!). In his scant 37ish years on this planet he has worked professionally as an advertising copyrighter / designer, translator of Arabic and Chinese, soda jerk (often considered the most appropriate position he's held), a television meteorologist, a special operations Staff Sergent (USAF), an inside sales director for an Internet design firm and again as a graphic designer and branding specialist for an Internet advertising agency, and a magician (including many stage shows, restaurants, birthday parties and public rest rooms). When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, Kep! denies the existence of adulthood and walks away. So many jobs have added up to an awful lot of moves spanning 30 states and four continents. He's lived so many places does it even matter what they were? Currently, he is on move 39 and is trying to fend off 40 with all his might, but how long can our fair hero last? Kep! lives in New England with his wife, two of four children, a cat and several imaginary friends who keep beating him at chess.

I recently had a preview book distributed at Wizard World Chicago and it recieved alot of praise and Diamond wants to help distribute it.

Hey Kep. I'm putting my "comicspace" together. I hope this will be a great tool to stay in touch with the cool people I've worked these past years. I really hope we can do something together again in the future. Good luck. |

Hey Kep
Just thinking that it would have been nice to see Ted Noodleman dreaming of being a Shadowhawk type character. Shame it will never happen. 2 Replies [ Latest posted on March 29th, 2007 2:39 PM ]

No, probably not as such. He did do the superhero thing early on, and there was something in the works at one time for him to be a darker, mysterious character...ala the back of the trade paperback...but it never came to be. Perhaps someday. thanks for thinking of it though! |

No probs Kep. Hey if we can't keep the great characters alive in the comic books, we can at least keep them alive in our minds. |

Cool. I'm actually quite the fan and always look for places to research. I just thought the message was oddly spam-like. Good luck with the project. |

Thanks for adding me Kep! You've made some really cool logos. Archenemies comes to mind right off. It's basic at a glance, but I dig that subtle illusion to it where the opposites play off each other. Sublime, not distracting. Outstanding stuff! 1 Reply [ Latest posted on February 2nd, 2007 10:32 PM ]

Yea man, it's me, the old geezer! :) I had to take about a 1 1/2 year break to get my wrist straightened out from all the nerve problems.
Seems to be fine now, but I haven't done any inking in a long time. I'll do some little projects here and there, but nothing like the pace I was running before. I need my beuty rest nowadays! I've been catching up with some old friends I haven't talked to in years, and this new Comicspace has been great for that!
Sounds like your busy as usual! That's great man. I'll have to get by Dark Horse and see what your up to.
Talk to you soon! Todd |

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going! If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page. Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

it's sure to be a wild ride! Did you see any of the books that came out of last year's contest? |
 |
[ Posted by Kep on Jan 5th, 2007 9:08 AM ]...
Sadly, i only saw them in passing and still intend to pick them up (i haven't lived withing 75 miles of a good comic shop until two months ago). But i paid attention to it online and really enjoyed the work I saw. Good stuff all around. |

[ Posted by Dimestore on Jan 5th, 2007 9:47 AM ]...
not a problem! Thanks for the interest. From you, that's gratifying! Some really good books were made...I plan to promote them more as this year's contest plays on, and also take them to shows...
Diamond - I don't know. I'm working to go more the Nifty Comics route...non traditional distribution. Especially as we're building our own Distro in the SPA...We'll see how comic book stores start to respond to Self Publisher! Magazine... |
 |
[ Posted by Kep on Jan 5th, 2007 9:54 AM ]...
I can certainly understand the apeal of doing it yourself. What's "Nifty Comics"? |
 |
[ Posted by Dimestore on Jan 5th, 2007 9:59 AM ]...
Nifty Comics is an imprint run by Mat Nastos. He's done really well selling in non traditional means outside of Diamond. The Cadre is their main title. |

Good to see you too! All sorts of stuff happening here. Several new lettering gigs, a new series in development with a major label (more soon I hope!) and a strip that's going to knock your socks off...assuming you wear socks.
And you? |
