Who am I? Well, I ain't no beautiful blonde bombshell that draws.. Nope.. I'm a somewhat over weight, stay at home mom of 2 boys. :) If that effects what you think of me and my art.. oh well. ;)

Why I am I telling you that? Because! When I look at myself in the mirror.. I can't believe the person looking back is learning how to draw and ink comics. I just don't look the part. XD

I am loving the learning process of comic creation. I'm not really aiming to do this professionally (I can't imagine getting an offer like that anyhow!). I just want to be able to look at my work.. and go.. "Hey! Not too bad!", maybe create my own webcomic and in the end be able to pass on what I learn to my boys who seem to be showing a interest in what Mommy does. And let me tell you..I have a great mentor in man named Charles Oliver. :) So I might be able to meet all these goals!

I got the "bug" my senior year of high school when a Comic Shop opened up in my dinky little town. I found soooo many comics.. the first and foremost being "Elfquest". Don't laugh, Wendy and Richard Pini have a great book with great Art. Not just that, she's self taught. From her I saw that women can work in comics and succeed.

I can tell you.. when I started my art... well, it was not good. And I mean REALLY bad. But I worked on it.. I'm still working on it! :D So you could say I've been seriously drawing for.... 14 years.

I did at one time try to get into the industry. But it didn't work out. But then, at that time my art was REALLY bad. Now I'm a Mom of two wonderful boys, one who at 5 will sit and watch mommy ink an image and draw as well. So no regrets for not pursuing it, maybe my babies will succeed! And maybe one day.. who know I may try again.. tho, by then I may be too old. Ha!

What's the one thing I want to learn? I want to learn how to computer color like a pro! When I visit the Gallerys of the pros.. My jaw drops. The downside is my college only offer Photoshop classes that pertain to business applications. *sigh*

Okay! Enough deep thoughts! :D Tho' I may add more later.

I do indeed have a Deviant art gallery...

And.. I will be soon be one half of an art team that will be drawing the pages for a great webcomic, Angels 2200! I don't think enough people read this comic!

http://www.angels2200.com/

Why should you read it? The concept is great. It's not like you'd think it would be. The back ground story is that there was a war with the colonys on other planets.. and a horrible biological weapon was used on the earth's people. It didn't just wipe out everyone.. it targeted men it killed all but the newly born or unborn. So now.. Women are having to fill the shoes of the men. Think about how much stuff is strongly male oriented. The jobs that men dominate.. now women have to do these too. And even with all this there is still a war waging.. and young girls are being drafted fresh out of high school. The comic follows one set of girls.

I suggest just giving it a look. It's not my art yet.. but I think the original artist has developed and grown over the years!

UPDATE:
I'm also working on my own Comic Idea.. It will be called Desert Winds. It's smack dab in the middle of a Fantasy world... but hey.. I think it'll be fun! It's going to take time to flesh out my characters. I've only got a few with a good set background. ;) I'm also working on developing the clothing and Cultures. So yeah.. It'll be awhile yet, but I really hope the effort and work I'm putting into it will be worth it!

RE: Opinions?
VERY GOOD! Is that all brush work? excellent, class inking, true to the pencils, but style still shines. Nice.

Thank you so much for the compliment! I did work very hard to keep with the pencils. It's not all brush.. But most of it.. I did use some tech pen on the visor and dip pen on some other parts.

Nice inks on the xmen page. I think it was Eisner
that said "Inking is sexy." It's the part when the page comes alive.
I just wish I could ink! LOL!!

Again... nice job!

Thanks! Yes.. that's a combination of Brush (Most of it including hair), dip pen (The shadow lines and such) and tech pen (Lines of his visor). I'm feeling confident with the brush and tech pends are no brainers for the most part, but the dip pen is making me nervous.. especially after I had to start over thanks to some bleeding when I was using my french curve. :P

Hi Kimmers! Cool artwork, it's the sort of style that I envision the graphic aspect of my novel to have... keep up the good work.

Many thanks to YOU for the add and the comment! I really appreciate it.
Well ...yes, my style different - I try, I try... Basically I like some of the mainstream methods, but I'm sick for the plethora of namless/styless/faceless clones at sometimes... Support the indie scene! Keep hope alive! :D

All the best:
Simon
