My name is Brent. I am basically here to network and fellowship with other artists/storytellers in the hopes to possibly collaborate on different projects. My book is Portentum: Africa Reborn. It is fiction. The story explores African traditions and systems of beliefs. Along with incorporated research of my ancestry I have developed a story of supernatural extremes. I hope to spread a message through my work as well as entertain the minds of readers. I am also thinking about making it into a graphic novel. I am currently working on a screenplay which is time consuming in itself. My artwork is freehand with the exception of portraits. Many of the portraits are oil and graphites. I collected comic books up to a point until I realized all my children are going to be girls (HAHA). I have recently purchased more comics trying to explore my creative side as I have been out of contact with the mythical world of heroes for some time now. I used to enjoy drawing all of my favorite heroes as a child but lost all desire as an adult. So here I am now back to my roots and am embracing my talents. Thanks for visiting.

Holla.

And oh yeah, if you are wondering where the user name comes from, read my book.

Cool man.....yeah the Dogon are from Mali. Back in the 30s they were studied by some Anthropologist from Belguim. They told him about consilations in the sky and explained myths relating to them. One in particular being the star syrus and how it would wiggle because of the white dwarf that would circle it in such a rapid speed. Anyhow, it wasn't until 1978 when the technology to actually physically see the consilation of sirus. Turns out the Dogon where right about a white dwarf spinning around it so rapidly.

The mystery being how did a hunting and gathering society know things about the consilations that were impossible to be seen by the naked eye until nearly 50 years later. They also were able to talk of other consilations.

They live in cliffs (if they are still around I think they are) and create amazing art and are incredibly advanced for a society without using the "perks" of modern technology.

sorry bout the rant....as for myself I do have a degree in creative writing and screenwriting was my first passion. Now it is short stories, Comics, Screenwriting, and Novella. I just live to write anything.....if you couldn't tell....

Anyways sorry again....later man

Thanks for the compliments. Very appreciated. Will look into the Dogon. I notice that you have the title of screenwriter under your hat. I am looking to utilize some ideas that aren't necessarily for a book but an aspiration for cinema. It's still the same genre of African lores. Anyway, thanks for stopping by.
