My name is DB, A.K.A. Diamondback. It's not my real name, obviously, but I use it as my Internet handle. I get it from one of my favorite comic book characters, Diamondback from Marvel comics; the pink haired chic that dated Captain America and is in B.A.D. Girls, Inc. I live in Newport News, Virginia. Born and raised here. I'm a Southerner, and have the accent to prove it, though it's died down as I grew older. I'm twenty years old, twenty-one in a few months. I'm dating an amazing guy, with whom I'll be with for two years next month. He and I share a lot of the same interests, especially music and comic books. He's responsible for getting my into DC comics, and even though I'm no logner as into DC as I was about a year ago, I no longer hate the company and I still really love a few of the characters, such as Killer Frost and Mary Marvel. I love him with all my heart and soul. I like Marvel and DC, but independent comics are my current bread and butter. I love Top Cow comics. My curent favorite regular title is Witchblade; I love the entire franchise, and am really excited to see the Witchblade anime. I also love Aphrodite IX, and think Jackie Estacado is one hot cookie (but he's no Jason Todd or Captain America!). I also love Chaos! comics and CrossGen, and think it's a damn shame that they aren't around anymore. I know, I know, Chaos! is now a part of Devil's Due, but without Lady Death, they had to revamp everyone big time, and the new stories are just lame. Overall, Vampirella is my favorite comic book character ever. Who couldn't love Vampi? Not only was she the very first good guy vampire, but she's really funny. Not to mention the very pinup girl style she has going on. There's something very, very classic about her. She's one of those characters that's going to be around for a long, long time. Not that I've got the comic book formalities out of the way, let me get to the nitty gritty of who I am. I'm a Christian, albeit not a very good one. My sins don't make the Lord love me any less. I am currently going to a local community college for science, and will be pursuing a Masters in Zoology after I transfer to a university. My longterm goal is to gain a doctorate in Zoology, and work on Siberian tiger habitat conservation in Russia. I would also like to one day open up a big cat rescue facility such as Big Cat Rescue in Florida or Tiger Creek in texas. I'm a photographer and an artist. Before I changed my mind about my major, I had planned on going to an art school in San Francisco for photography. My favorite photographer is Ross Halfin. I'm a pretty big music fan. My parents constantly tell me that I was born in the wrong decade -- I should have been a teenager in the 70's and 80's. I listen to what most people today would call "old music," and I tend to know more about older bands than people that were actually around during their prime. My favorite bands include Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Led Zeppelin. My general philosophy on music is that modern American rock music sucks, and that any band following the "glam" era in the United States can go take a flying leap. Unless the band in question is really fucking amazing, or has some kind of connection to one of the bands I like, chances are I'm going to think it's a terrible band. Now, bear in mind this doesn't include European power metal (I.E., Gamma Ray). I also judge people based on the music they listen to. If you listen to a band like My Chemical Romance, or some other emo crap like that, I'm probably going to want to beat the crap out of you for being a pussy. I am way more into music and comic books than I am video games. However, it's only modern games that I don't go all fangirl over. I'm what a lot of people call an "old school" gamer. This is just more proof to the fact that I should have been born in an earlier decade. The Nintendo Entertainment System is my favorite system, and to this very day I would rather play a game on the NES than one of this fancy games we have now. Let's just face it people -- video games today are all about graphics. They're too easy. The only thing that matters to anyone is the way the game looks. Games on the NES, or even the SNES and Genesis, are much, much harder. After music and comic books, I like anime, manga and Star Wars. I usually don't like really popular animes, but Naruto is my current favorite one. Before that, my favorite anime was Slayers. I'm a big fan of the original trilogy of Star Wars (Episode IV-VI). I absolutely love Han Solo and Boba Fett. My favorite female character in Star Wars are Zam Wesell. I also really, really love mummy movies and archaeology movies, like The Mummy and Indiana Jones. I'm a geek. I still play with toys and action figures. I love Star Wars. My obsessions, other than music and comic books, include denim, leather, motorcycles, leopard print, Halloween decorations and TIGERS. I love robots and cyberpunk. I collect books and bookmarks. If you're ever seen the Read or Die OVA, then here's an idea of just how much I love books -- my bedroom looks like the Paper's apartment. I have stacks and stacks of books everywhere. I'm a regular old bibliophile. The only thing girly about me is that I like the color pink, I have a lot of tig and other big cat plushies, and I like flowers. If you don't agree with me on anything I just said, then we probably won't get along and you should probably avoid me at all costs. I'm aggressive and I'm told I'm a cold hearted bitch. I come from a line of bar fighting, biker chics and I don't back down from a fight. And I won't hesitate to tell you what I think. My GreatestJournal My GaiaOnline 1UP.com My DeviantArt |
