I write really dull stuff for far more money than I probably deserve, and I write hopefully not dull comics for no money.

New stuff out next year in The Hard Words Anthology as well as High Noon Presents, and a new edition of Strange Consequences.

On the off chance that someone of the pencil wrangling variety (that's you, artists) likes my stuff and wants to work with me, there's always something needing the drawing.

Lots of short stories, long stuff if you want it.

Talk to me here or just PM me.

So, stuff what I did:

The Ghost Collector This is the cover, first six pages and special bonus page from a project I'm working on with Finnish artist Sami Makkonen. We're still trying to find it a home. Probably my favorite project so far, and I'll be pissed if I can't find a home for it.

Healer Art by E.C. Masters. First six pages of horror comic. I'm still pretty happy with it.

Best Of The Best Horror western with art by Jason Frank and Cory Laub. Just got these back. Not 100% on the dialogue, but that's easily remedied.

Conspicuous Consumption Art by Yuriko Sekine. I actually wrote this as a prose story some time ago, and I figured it would work better as comic. I intentionally found some with a cartoony Manga style to contrast with the subject matter. Worked okay.

The Aspenberg Number Art by Tim Twelves. You may notice some vague similarity to Stephen King's CELL. Well, I was there first, so nyar. I'm sure somebody did it before King or me, anyway. This might have been the first thing I had drawn, although I can't really remember, sadly.

Forgotten Art by Shawn Richter. People seem to really dig this story, and it remains one of my favorite things. I'm going to revist the character and the concept at some point.

You can find out more about the simian in the stacks in a variety of places:

MySpace!

Livejournal!

Flickr!

ComicSpace! No,wait....

I've written for the late, lamented Ninth Art, as well as Comic Book Resources, and Comic Foundry and probably some others I've forgotten as well.

I look to have a new comics journalism gig for 2007, so more about that when it's solid.

So that's me.

Pleased to meet you, Justin. I'm curious to what else you write besides comics.

A few things, but mostly you would call it...well, actually, I'm not sure what you would call it. Somewhere between technical writing and speechwriting. Essentially, I make executives, mostly in finance, sound good.

It exploits my natural gift for bullshit.

I do some newspaper stringing too, although less so these days.

You do fine work, and it's a pleasure to (e)meet you.

Thanks!

I try to get the people I think will do the best for each project, which takes some doing, considering there's no money.

Thanks Library. I like your work too. I think you and I have similar styles in concieving stories, or at least in one regard. We like a 'punch-line' at the end, a left hook people don't see coming, yet for the reader, in hindsight, is there to be had. It also shows we like to understand our stories front to back before we compose them.

Do you go to conventions and sell your stuff? I haven't done that yet, but as I get more material down, I intend to.

Ha, that's exactly how I think of it, actually. Most of short stories I've done are in what I'd describe as joke form; set up and punchline.

Yes and no.

I do go to conventions, but generally I just give stuff away rather then selling it.
