Bulletin: Indie Artists Announce 2nd Comic Book Release

Memphis, TN and Prescott Valley, AZ: January 18, 2007-

David Beaty and Lin Workman announce the release of Bushi Tales, Issue #2 “On Deadly Ground”. This is the self-published version of the popular online comic story which follows four heroines in the 31st century when the ancient world has returned and a new civilization has been built by warriors who must battle the evil traitor, Chozen. It is full of extras such as 2 back up stories, one drawn by Martheus Antone Wade http://www.toshigawa.com/.

Printed versions of this 32 page book are available (at the suggested retail price of $3.95 plus $1.80 s/h) online at http://www.BushiTales.com, with an alternate cover by Janet Wade. Both versions have a full-color cover and black-and-white interior pages. It is also available online as a full-color downloadable PDF from BushiTales.com ($1.25). The downloadable PDF version will soon be available on the Bushi Tales soundtrack and for sale online and at convention appearances. Issues #1 and #2 as well as the soundtrack CD are now available on-line and at several locations around Memphis, TN, Southaven, MS, and Arizona.

Issue #3 is scheduled for a summer 2007 release.

Why does this team effort stand out behind other self-published comic books? It has taken almost 10 years of development to fine-tune the story and characters—and for technology to catch up to where they needed it to be. It is also one of the few comics to have its own soundtrack. Bushi Tales has been brought to fruition by two best friends who now live over 1400 miles apart. The creative team uses the internet to send pages and sketches back and forth to each other, as well as running an online store and posting their comic project for fans to read on their website—for free. The Bushi Tales crew has also been making appearances at comic book and fantasy/sci-fi conventions across the country promoting this popular online title, and meeting their fans from around the world. Both artists Dave Beaty and Lin Workman, along with Micah Stewart and Bushi Tales soundtrack composer Joel Gamble appeared in April 2006 at AniZona in Phoenix, AZ as guests, and worked with other members of the Mid-South Cartoonists Association on Con-Sequential- a comic convention this past October 14th and 15th in Memphis, TN. www.con-sequential.com The Bushi Tales crew will be guest artists this January 26th – 28th at the Phoenix Comicon http://www.phoenixcomicon.com and in June at the Metropolis Superman Celebration http://www.supermancelebration.net/. Artists Antone and Janet Wade will also be in attendance at both shows.
