For over a year I've been planning a comic series based on dreams. Not just any dreams, but ones that told a story and made sense (or at least some twisted fascimile) by the end.

The series is called "Ryan Healey's LUCID". I decided on this title because it seemed to aptly describe all the dreams the series will encounter. But I also like the insinuation of the apostrophe (meaning "Ryan Healey IS LUCID"). As my wife know all too well, most of the time I'm not. Like many "creative types", I probably spend an unhealthy amount of time in my head. I've cut back since our son was born, but I think cold turkey is out of the question.

The first story is "Lady of the Lake". It's a weird tale with a bit of horror to it that should set the tone for the rest of the stories quite nicely. For the past five years I've focused mainly on writing, but I'm hoping this series will help me hone my visual style.

I will post sketches and pages as they're completed. For now I've included a previous comic and some other illustrations, so please take a peek! Any comments or suggestions are very welcome!

Thanks for looking,

Ryan

Ryan Healey's LUCID #1: Lady of the Lake

This gallery will contain sketches and pages as they are completed. The story is about two brothers, a horrible creature and the demented nature of reality TV.

The Scientist in Endless Twilight (or Antarctica Sucks)

An "Epic" poem (thought not a GOOD poem) I wrote in college and made into a comic. It has babes and a vampire, but very little science.

SOS Storyboards/ Concept Art

I did this in 2006 for "Significance of Spirals", a student film by Jonathan Musser. My first experiment with creating pages in CorelDraw.

Hey Ryan!

Welcome to ComicSpace. You got some great work here. I love the prints in your Illustration gallery. I am a huge fan of gritty textures in art. Anyway, I am psyched to see you joined the site too, and I cant wait to see some more of your stuff.

Later!

Dan
