InfoCurrent Residence: Dover, NJ School: The Joe Kubert School of Comic and Graphic Art Occupation: Freelance Artist (With no current jobs...) Email: Personal: sword_of_zet@hotmail.com Professional: michaelleelunsford@hotmail.comComics: Stuffed Jim, Freak (no site for them, you can currently only find them on my Deviantart site, very relaxed updating due to school work being put first) Websites: http://www.myspace.com/michael_lunsfordhttp://zet.deviantart.com/Commissions Info: http://zet.deviantart.com/journal/10536254/Captain's Log1/17/07: Mwahahahaha! I now have a propor self-portrait up for the men to glare in jelousy and the women to fall head ove heals for. Look at that chizeled jaw and my long flowing locks. the way I can from one angle look like a respectfull president Lincoln and then in another light, Fabio. So sure, so confident, so many lies upon lies!
[b]12/11/06: Attempted to add some shading, and it didnt help the pictures much, so I'll just leave it as it is and hope for the best. 12/7/06: I'm getting nervous now with all the people "Friending" me on here, the comic definately isn't my best work, maybe I should fix it up more before I need to post it here... Luckily it doesn't have too many pages yet, so that wont be too big of a problem, I'll probably just shade the pages instead of leaving flat colors, I'm sure the readers would like that alot more too. I also put up a Commissions Info link, so if anyone wants something from me, you now know how to ask! I need the money too! 12/6/06: Yes, two posts in a day. Anyways, just want to say that this is a great place for networking, I love it so far, just need that comic thing put up. Also heres a link to my Myspace account...I really dont go there often because one of my friends told me to put it up and he's the only one I know on there, so if you'd spread the love and visit I might pay more attention to it. http://www.myspace.com/michael_lunsford12/6/06: Hey everyone, can't wait to put up my comics, here's my Deviantart Site untill that happens... http://zet.deviantart.com/

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going! If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page. Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

being a kubie is like having gone through nam. you don't really need to talk about it because you just know what each other went through.

I edited my previous comment - it was supposed to read 'severed chicken foot'.
Thanks for the brief update on the school - I did my share of complaining about stuff while I was there, but it was because I was having a tough time adapting to being on my own. Stupid things would seem unfair to me - because I thought there was such a thing as fair at the time! Glad to hear about the asbestos removal. Me and my friends had some harrowing adventures in that scary old school - and then there was the carriage house! Good memories. First year away from home and all that. Drunken debauchery and learning to walk through a rather shifty geography while feeling a spin in your head. Its a definite case of the school being what you make of it - - you can't expect them to do anything for you, they are there to assist and offer what they have to give a few hours a day. Its pretty damn hard for a 19 year old to motivate himself to do 6 hours of homework after a 6 hour school day while also being able to access all the other distractions that come with freedom from parents.
Anyway - thats more than 10 years ago for me :) Now I'm a family man who's in the middle of a 10pm-2am painting shift (scene from African tale Two Brides for Five Heads - pretty keen 5 headed serpent trying to scare a savvy young lass). Back to the drawing board!

Thanks for adding me, Michael! I'm searching through the folks here to find all the Kubies and Ex-Kubies (for which I made a tag). I graduated in '95 - and I'm interested to know how things are going there and what has changed. Surely scenic Dover NJ is as lovely as ever - does that one store downtown still keep a severed chicken foot in a bowl of blood at the front door? I agree that this area could be good for networking - I'm less interested in working the field of comics than I once was, but I am still a fan and work in related industries. Good to meet you, take care - Tom_Skelton |
