As much as I'm enjoying my comics, it's always great to find superhero stories in a different format.

One that I would highly recommend is the audio podcast Playing for Keeps by Mur Lafferty.

To quote from the site: “Playing For Keeps” is Lafferty’s celebrated superhero novel. It tells the story of people with minor superpower who fall directly in the middle of a battle between bullying superheroes and manipulative, charming villains.

In addition to the mp3 audio files, pdf files (with cover art) are available on the site for download. New chapters are available each week.

Try Playing for Keeps, you won't be sorry.

Al Rio's art is outstanding!!! I anticipate seeing his work on more mainstream comics (if that's what he'd like). I'm definitely thinking about ordering his "Art of Al Rio" book. Since it's labeled as volume 1, I'm assuming that even more will be available in the future.

Actually I plan to add a bigger plug for Athena Voltaire when I get the time. Your book definitely deserves the Eisner it was nominated for (and this comes from a long-time comic book fan)!!

Well it is the best in-depth interview show in comics (maybe in all of podcasting - right up there with Podcast 411)! Not to knock the other great comic podcasts that do interviews, they are good - but it is "Word Balloon" is all about.

I know that these interviews must be done over the phone, but I can't help having the image of two guys sitting down together to talk in a library/study everytime I listen.

Actually I plan to add a bigger plug for Athena Voltaire when I get the time. But for anyone else who might be reading - try Athena Voltaire, it definitely deserves the Eisner nomination!!
