| Bulletin: | Hey guys! Since I havenpt had much time to post news here, Iīll copy what I wrote in DeviantArt and update my galleries as soons as possible. Hope you enjoy them all! As I promised, here comes the first wave of news... After a long while without showing up in DevArt, Iīm back, and hopefully, staying longer. Thereīs so many things Iīd like to show and tell about, and Iīm anxious to draw new stuff. Okay, my first semester was mostly extremely chaotic. My heart and my career were at low ends, in the bottom of the pit. I wasnīt really working mand the only real good thing I did was the comic that eventually was featured in Front #17, here in Brazil. A great achievement. All in all, I had no inspiration and decided to just have as much fun as possible to distract my mind from my heartaches, my tricky mind and my non-existent work. Thing is, Iīm really happy nowadays. After august, my life has cvhanged a lot, nad many of the things that were triggered to happen, just did. College is alsdo much more fun now, and Iīm about to graduate, finally. I know my path to be in comics and photography, and now I can defend myself and my ideas with better arguments, based on all my studying. --- I finally got my camera fixed. My Canon PowerShot A70 was dead for a long time, and I just stopped taking pictures. Without a god camera, what could I do? I also wasnīt going back to analogic, because I canīt find the film I like, and because itīs way expensive. So, I took the little one to Sao Paulo, for a revamp. It came back good as new. Soon after, I decided it was time for a revamp in my instruments, and bought a really good camera. Canon Rebel XT, my new weapon. Iīmstill getting used to it, but itīs a very very good camera and Iīm happy enough to be back atthe photography realm. During my Draweing Lab in college, my professor told me I was a great artist in drawing and painting, and a great comic book story-teller, but my photography was awesome. He told I take pictures like a 51-year-old man does. (Iīm 23) I took that as a compliment, and like always do, didnīt let that make me feel too proud or confident. We canīt let compliments make us too sure of ourselves. We canīt take things for granted. We need to be always improving and evolving, and we need to be humble and simple, not to become stupid and full of ourselves. We gotta be good, thatīs all. ---- Iīm teaching drawing, comic book storytelling, and illustration at Pandora. Ricardo, one of Pandoraīs owners, helped me and our friend Aline to organize a reunion of our cityīs illustrators, cartoonists, comic artists, etc. It was called Sandubão Ilustrado, wasnī;pt a huge success, but was very nice. Well, he recently callled me and told his comic teacher was going to quit, so he needed a new one. Abd that there was no one better than me in the city to do that (WOW!!!) Okay, he had several resumes on his desk awaiting, but he thought itīd be better tocheck with me first. We talked a lot, and I accepted. Itīs been two months now, Iīm loving every minute! Itīs a job, finally, one that pays me well, makes me satisfied, makes me exercize what I know, and man, am I learning a lot being a teacher! Pandora is one of the best Art Schools in Campinas (my city), and has one of the best casts of teachers around. Iīm very happy to be part of the team, of the family. I worked hard and studied a lot to get where I am now, and Iīm loving it. Pandora also makes two exibitions a year. The next onem scheduled for the end of the year, is under the theme "Hanna-Barbera - 30 years". Weīre all very excited about it, most of the students are creating wonderful interpretations and visuals for the classic cartoons. We tell them to re-think the character. Not to draw them the same way thecartoons are, but better, draw them with each oneīs own style. The teachers also participate, and you can see my Space Ghost and my Impossibles in the Gallery. Thereīs another artist meeting coming up, and I hope we make that a tradition, at least once a month everyone can get together and share news, works, talk and have a good time. We, the artists, have to be united. We spend too much time alone in studios, drawing boards and computers... we really need to meet each other. ----- End of part One, hang on for part Two! |
