My current work as an artist revolves around the graphic novel art form, but ranges from fine art to film and music. The Graphic Novel art form is my medium of choice because it encompasses visual art and the written word, two very powerful forms of communication, which are fused into an amalgam that has not been cultivated enough as a free art form without conventions. The Graphic Novel can be distributed to multiple individuals for a relatively low price and is unique in the way it interacts with its audience. This art form has been my passion since I was a child drawing comics with my older brother and watching my uncle paint murals in my house.

Here are some of my paintings and such.

I am currently working hard in my studio on some paintings for an artshow. Its funny, I've had more success selling paintings than getting work in the comic field, and I love comics more. I guess I've been going to school too long...but I'm done now! Whew, still have the loans though.

Some of my favorites:
X-Men, Conan Magazine, Maus, original TMNT, Love and Rockets, Kabuki, Graphic Novels
Diego Rivera, Pablo Picasso, Jack Kirby, John Buscema, Barry Winsor-Smith

“A few years after a war that was decided upon by .0002 percent of the population, half the people of the world try to survive its repercussions. Radiation, Chemical poisoning, lack of natural resources, hate, anger, and oppression run unbound across the globe. This is a world that mirrors our own world. This is a city that mirrors every city…Scarcity.

Scarcity: The demand and need of something that there is not enough of. A Scarcity of love, of hope, of goodness, of faith…of all things that are light. This is where these characters dwell. Absorbed by their own stories, guilt, shame, heroics, power, fame or vanity. They live these extraordinary events only to lead to the inevitable. The end/the beginning.”

“So it was all about the war. Not even all the other wars before then could compare to its devastation. People have killed before, but this time it was radioactive. Everyone was warned about what would happen if they used experimental weapons and untested technology. They spent million, trillions of dollars writing proposals and trying to fight against the use of mass destruction. No one predicted it, except for everyone. They all thought about it as the end of the world.

Some countries were completely annihilated. No survivors, no apologies. Of course they were the non-violent countries as compared. The world order was needing a dominant lead, and who wanted to be leader? Everyone. Technology gave man the power to vaporize themselves and lots of greedy men had it. It was not a decision that was given to most people of the world. Only those few who had the choice to wield the power. And when one decided to use it, the rest could only follow...and follow they did...as fast as they could.

They soon developed genetic experiments which could enhance a humans abilities. They created monstrosities. They used weapons of war that were never contemplated before because of its certain death to mankind. They left unbelievable amounts of land desolate and forever dead. The toxins left would kill any breathing thing. Who would win? What would happen to civilization then? Would there be anything left? Those were the questions being contemplated then. Even the most high breathed in their mortality. After all, we’re only human anyway.

Lets have peace. C’mon, let’s shake hands and forget about all this stuff. It’s the past anyway. We can make it work. Let us gather together and use our technology for good. God gave it to us for a reason. But did they believe in God? Did they believe that God was looking upon them in anger and holding his wrath until it filled the cup...Did they know that their notrocitites were prophesied and their hearts are empty. They could do nothing except play their role. Every one has a chance. And so it was written.”

The ideas and concepts explored in my work are both aesthetic and introspective. Aesthetically, I am interested in synthesizing words and art to create stories and or communications which would engage the audience clearly yet innovatively. I am not interested in creating a new category of art but rather use those that exist in unity and choose which medium would best suit the means of communicating an idea or feeling.

I’m going about, inviting anyone and everyone, to participate in the greatest show in Indy Comics: Small Press Idol 2008. Last year, over 100 teams competed for the chance to be published, and dozens of the top projects have been appearing in Mysterious Visions Anthology. 3 of the other top projects have been picked up by 3rd party publishers, and a couple others are also now with the Dimestore Imprint. This year, we’re upping the ante. With a very small entry free, we’re going to have a CASH PRIZE for the winner, as well as a publishing deal.
Sounds interesting? Anyone who is not currently being published by a “name” company, who is not making a living making comics, is eligible. So if you have a webcomic you’d like to rework a bit into a comic…entering will grab you lots of new eyes on your work. Self published issues haven’t been selling great? Kick it up a notch, and see how it stacks up in the spotlight.
The Guidelines for this year’s contest are here:

If you can pass this message forward to anyone, anywhere, we can blow the lid off this thing!

Thank you so much for your wonderful compliment. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I just actually noticed your comment today. :) I usually sign on and check my mail then leave. Forgot about looking at comments. :) I'd love to put a link under our links section of our website to any of your stuff.

I know what you mean. Diamond takes so much of the money from your book and has no competition they can get away with it no problem, and small press people end up practically giving them money by the time they're done. So many people miss out on quality books because of this.
