COMICS GOODNESS: ~Knights of the Shroud, on Girlamatic. Knights of the Shroud is gritty fantasy following five vigilante women in their life and death struggle against slavery. Praise for Knights of the Shroud: "With his dee-licious Paul Pope-esque inkwork, Matt brings a story of fighting women to our site... Gals who've been looking for a fantasy where the women have the adventure will wonder where Matt's been all their lives." -Lea Hernandez, First editor of GirlAMatic, Rumble Girls: Runaway Lightning Ohmry, Texas Steampunk: Cathedral Child, Manga Secrets "Damn good stuff." -Eric Millikin, Fetus-X "Warrior badassery at its best!" -Lisa Jonte, editor, GirlAMatic; author of Arcana Jayne, "Matt Bayne's got a real gift for sequential art and bringing characters to life on the page. His style is crisp, sexy, fun, and dynamic, and I'm dying to have a collected copy of Knights of the Shroud in my hands!" -Grant Gould, Sasquatch, sketch card artist for Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Avengers. "A beautifully rendered cathartic feminist fantasy." -Tintin Pantoja, Sevenplains "I totally can't decide which Knight of the Shroud I want to be my wife." -Leia Weathington, Bold Riley and the Witch in the Wild, Bold Riley and the Wicked Temple "The five women in 'Knights' are compelling, storied people in a fabulously detailed, hard-edged fantasy world that will keep you turning the pages!" -Diana Cameron McQueen, Spades "Matt does some really nice artwork here and it reminded me a little of Poison Elves... It was pretty kick ass and the bloody action flowed nicely. KOTS gets a GFP (Game Fodder Potential) of 8 for your D&D campaign." -Tony DiGerolamo, Lookin' at Comics, Knights of the Dinner Table, issue #125 ~INTEGRAL. 6 pages of art for a tense cop story written by Chris Arrant, appearing in his debut minicomic entitled Four Stories, which received three stars from Comic Buyer's Guide! (ref: CBG #1625) "...all different styles, all six pages max, all with strong characterization..." - Rue Morgue's Gary Butler "...Blessed by good art across the board..." - comics writer Steven Grant in his CBR column PERMANENT DAMAGE "It's an admirable effort..." - Johanna Draper Carlson on CBR's 'Comics Worth Reading' "The first story, Integral, is drawn by Matt Bayne. This one focuses on the contrasting lifestyle of Frank Lowry who just retired as a cop to spend more time with his daughter. Chris's character writing is convincing. There was a good balance of comedy and drama. The art is well inked with confident lines and plenty of contrasting black and white. The character art is distinct, realistic enough to keep the mood serious, but loose enough to allow flexibility for character expressions. The background art is plentiful, so you always have a good idea of where the action is taking place. While the pages are professionally lettered, I'd like to have seen more balance between the art and the bubbles. Much of the time, the text seems forced over the art complicating the compositions. I think Matt's style would play well with hand-lettering, and judging from the hand-lettered signs in the story, he'd do a good job at it, as well." - Steve C. Harrison, Fabricari ~Malefic Malfoy. Just a little Harry Potter fan-comic done on index cards while I was otherwise supposed to have been working. "I've been a long time fan of Matt Bayne's "Knights of the Shroud," a cutthroat fantasy epic, so seeing a hilarious quickie like this is a real treat. In Malefic Malfoy, it seems that young Draco has found himself a pervy little skirt-lifting charm. (Which Matt keeps incredibly classy as one girl is wearing sport-shorts underneath, and the other is conveniently out of the frame.) Actually, the sport-shorts cracked me up. The art is fun, and the idea is really rather amusing. That, and it's Harry Potter drawn by Matt Bayne. Acquaint yourself." - Christine Kohler, Thirteenth Hour MattB's BulletinsDisplaying 1-9 of 9 bulletins...
