mercuryeric
http://mercuryeric.livejournal.com is my primary 'blog.
I also sporadically post to Outpost:Remote, my science/science-fiction focused 'blog; most of the comics stuff I woolgather about can be found there. So who is this guy? For nearly eight years, I was employed as a "franchise development" person nominally affiliated with Microsoft/Microsoft Game Studios. I've written dialogue that has appeared in titles from the not-so-good Allegiance, to the better-but-not-terribly-successful Crimson Skies to this little game you may have heard of, called Halo. I've written prose fiction and non-fiction (a Crimson Skies novella and a non-fiction "Art of" book, The Art of Halo.) As of 5 September 2006, I once again became a full-time freelance writer, and aspiring novelist. I'm a newly-minted writer of comic books. My first honest-to-God comic book -- a comic series based on the Perfect Dark franchise, six issues titled "Perfect Dark: Janus's Tears") debuted in August 2006 with minimal publicity, and in August 2007, my first work for DC Comics debuted, issue #17 of Checkmate (co-written with Greg Rucka). This earned me the opportunity to continue co-writing Checkmate with Greg, starting with the two-part Mademoiselle Marie story arc, (La Vie En Sang) that ran from issues 21-22, and finally a fairly epic three-parter, "Castling," from 23-25. In October of 2008, Greg and I reunite for a FINAL CRISIS tie-in, a one-shot titled "FINAL CRISIS: RESIST" (to be penciled by Ryan Sook). With co-writer Brandon Jerwa and artist David Messina, I contributed to the second volume of Image's acclaimed "POPGUN" anthology series; the story is an 8-page horror/adventure short, titled "WIDE AWAKE," which Jerwa and I continue to develop as an ongoing series. Recently, I began work (again, with co-writer Brandon Jerwa), an original graphic novel for DC/Vertigo. In addition, I am an editorial consultant for Prima Games, a Random House division best known for video-game strategy guides; they have recently moved into adapting video-games into comics and graphic novels. The first such effort (which I edited and lettered) was an original graphic novel based on the forthcoming EA shooter, "Army of Two," written by John Ney Rieber and illustrated by Brandon McKinney. mercuryeric's BulletinsDisplaying 1-7 of 7 bulletins...
