My name is Michael Bailey and I'm addicted to comics.

(Waits for everyone to say, "Hi, Michael," before continuing.)

I have been an addict for since the spring of 1987. I had always liked super-heroes having spent an unusual amount of time as a boy watching the Super Friends, the Incredible Hulk (both animated and live action), the Christopher Reeve [b}Superman[/b] films, the Adam West/Burt Ward Batman series, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends and just about anything else with people in funny costumes running around fighting crime and such. I dabbled into comic book but it never really took.

Then, at the tender age of eleven, it happened. I began collecting the three Superman titles. These were my gateway drugs and soon I, on and off, collected various titles and even started buying back issues. By 1994 I was collecting a large number of DC books and the problem only grew when I moved to Fayetteville, GA in 1995.

Over the years I have tried to scale back and control my habit but I haven't been all that successful. I have roughly 13,000 comics in my collection and it just keeps growing.

I need help. I really do.

In addition to comics and trade paperbacks I also collect action figures, DVDs, trading cards and other assorted bits of business associated with comics.

I also review comics for both The Superman Homepage and Superman Database. My output is roughly two to three reviews a week between the two sites.

I also have a general comic book related catch-all blog called The Fortress of Baileytude. It is small now, but is getting larger by the day.

In addition to that I recently started a site/blog dedicated to the All-Star Squadron. It's called The Perisphere. If you feel like falling off the wagon go check it out and tell me what you think.

Well, that's my story. Despite being married and owning a small poodle named Boo I am a comic book junkie. As the song says (and yes there is a song) I am stone cold comic book crazy. I realize that some of you must feel the same way I do. Maybe together we can beat this addiction.

Or maybe we can just enable each other. I'm up for either choice.

Currently I collect the following titles:

Superman- I review this book for The Superman Database
Action Comics]- I review this book for The Superman Database
Superman Confidential]- I review this book for The Superman Database
Superman/Batman- I review this book for The Superman Homepage
Supergirl
Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes

You may notice a trend at this point. Superman is my favorite character. This is evident in my choice of icon.

Justice Society of America- Boo yah! It's out!
Justice League of America- Another book I review for The Superman Homepage
JSA Classified
JLA Classified- Another book I review for The Superman Homepage
Justice

As you can see I have this thing for books with "justice" in the title.

52- I alternate with three other reviews on this book for The Superman Homepage
Green Lantern
Teen Titans
Hawkgirl
Birds of Prey
Incredible Hulk

I also pick up a few sundry mini-series and specials. If you think that list is long I cut it in half about six months ago.

I also really like DC. I didn't know if you noticed.

In addition to all of that I consider myself something of a writer. So if you have need of such a thing just let me know.

So that's pretty much it. I have a Live Journal, so feel free to check that out. If you wish to engage in conversation about comics you can also reach me HERE.

Later.

Is this the Micheal Baily from the "Superman Homepage: Everything you ever wanted to know about the Man of Steel"?

If so, awesome. I used much of your site for research for a paper I wrote in college about a year and a half ago about the evolution of Superman and how it related to American culture as a whole. Quite a mouthful and a little heavy handed, true... but it was for a a class in critical thinking so ALL of the papers were like that.
