My answer to most questions that begin, "Do you think this could make a good comic?" is usually, "Why not? Give it a shot. You got something better to do?"

I think a SAHDs online comic could, yes, appeal to other stay-at-home dads, particularly the artistic or web-employed ones. Even more likely, it could appeal to stay-at-home moms -- who are of course legion. You could play it several ways. You could play it like Eldridge Cleaver, working to articulate and identify your own minority for the sake of those who are like you as well as for those who don't yet understand you. Or you could play it like Mantan Moreland, tapdancing and mugging in order to win attention of those who would otherwise overlook you -- meanwhile introducing them to the special conditions under which you live.

Apropos of nothing. I just love the name Mantan Moreland.

The clincher is in the question "You got something better to do?" - I have to prioritize pretty carefully to retain my sanity and not go spending hours on something that could replace sleep/rest/family time in brief stints.

I overextended recently - so I'm trying to plan carefully. I say this as I try to sooth myself over creating two art projects within the 4 days following my mural completion (a good sign for the Jan. 27 march on Washington - and art assistance on a Darwin Day card for a columnist friend who focuses on raising a family without religion).

I appreciate your reply - knowing how to frame the story (if there is to be one) is pretty hairy for me, and I don't want to be a whiner or piss people off either.

Surely Mantan did his share of tap dancing.
Even I did a little, earlier TODAY in fact, while playing Kermit the Frog's rendition of "Happy Feet" with my enthusiastic little dancing daughter.
Mantan missed out, otherwise.
By the way - I don't know who the hell he is. Don't make me wiki this.

Thanks, Mike!

Ron

Hail to Elayne. No content to this comment. The page, barely a month old, already seemed too forgotten.

I regret I described Mantan Moreland as a tap dancer. I was mixing him up with Ernie "Scruno/Sunshine Sammy" Morrison, due to their similar last name and similar wide appeal throughout the '30s and '40s. I don't recall Mantan Moreland tap dancing.

Hi Jenny! Nice to see ya. I like youe website, also, which I had not visited until today.

ComicSpace is visually pretty dull so far. Do you agree? The visual dullness seems wrong. And not "so wrong it's funny".

Yeah, it is kind of dull. I'm waiting for a BBS in this thing myself.

Actually, I have!
I just went ahead and sold the artwork from the project "Night....and DAAY!" that we had to do every year because the teacher forgot he had already assigned it twice before.
With the remaining riches I plan to buy the last of the ice caps and build resorts for short sighted wealthy people.
I think I sent you a letter on here, did you get it? Computer's occasionally seem to plot against me.
